remember the gay dancer character that they shoehorned in? in the last espisode he shows up with his boyfriend and is like "hi everyone, you all remember my bf charles right" and they go off on a bus to London. wtf was the point of that?

if you're a zoomer, you might not realize how quickly gay stuff went from being completely a joke to something kind of serious enough to take itself ironically... and the early 2000s was still when gays were pretty discriminated against so now it all just seems quaint maybe.

it's also totally cringe of course, so it was just bad writing, too. the show was funny and good but kind of like some avant-garde after school special

i never thought any character was shoehorned in, the show was about teenage troubles (basically how to fit in the society) and sexuality is a huge part of that
