I'm a "hipster" because I'm autistic when it comes to tradition and quality of things. I brew a matcha every morning with a whisk and traditional matcha tools. I also like to wear more traditional Western clothes with buttons and sometimes mix it with traditional Japanese style clothes like clog sandals. I even keep a samurai hairstyle and wash my hair with home made fermented rice water like ancient people did.
Any hipsters on Yas Forums?
k-kensama... is that you? Have you finally returned?
I think I could pass for a hipster if I were gay.
I've never tried matcha. Maybe I should go buy some today. Been wanting to try for some time...
Do you have any advice for a matcha noob? Can I use a electric milk frother as whisk?
Should you eat something with the tea?
Here are basic things you need:
>Buy a matcha bowl(~$30), matcha whisk (~$10), and a bamboo tea spoon thing (~5).
>Warm kettle of boiled water.
>Pour slowly into bow to warm it around.
>Dry the bowl with towel
>pour 2 spoons matcha powder into bowl with bamboo stick. Make sure you even out the powder
>Pour 80°C water into. Only a couple drips.
>Mix up the powder into a sludge with no slid blocks
>Then pour more water
>Mix it with the whisk very fast in a "M" motion until it becomes foamy smoothe
Then drink
so redpill me on this Japanon, why would I do this and not just drink cheap green tea in tea bag form?
You can't drink matcha in bag form lol
Pretty much all teas are made from brewing tea leaves. Matcha is an exception because it's not brewing. You grind the leaves into powder and you drink the powdered leaves mixed into hot water. That's why you have to mix it whisk and drink it hot
Do they have this in Japan? It's very nice! Green tea is very relaxing.

Thanks user!
But is it really necessary to get a special bowl and whisk? I understand it would give the best results but maybe a small ceramic bowl and small whisk is good enough? Or is the whisk really essential? I guess the point of whisking is to trap slot of air to make it foamy?
I'm a complete beginner at matcha tea so I don't want to spend a lot of money on equipment I might not use later.
That's not matcha. That's just green tea with some matcha powder added lol. We have normal teas with matcha powder added, yes
>I'm a "hipster"
In other words, you are effeminate fag who would be reverse Nanking raped in any war with China.
I would say the whisk is the most important part. You could technically use any bowl but thin ceramic bowls tend to loose heat quicky and it might become a crappy matcha?
Best use a bow that isn't too wide but has more vertical height
Yes, I would run away in a war. You would too
Why 80 celcius, Is it more delicious that way?
I usually brew matcha with cool water (25-30 celcius), is it alright?
A Brony calling others effeminate fag fishing for attention?
In that case I'll get a whisk. Thanks!
yeah I know but what is the benefit to regular green tea that comes in tea bags? that was what i was going for
I would run towards bullets so I could welcome the sweet release of death since I am too much of a coward to take my own life.
Soften the whisk with hot water for a minute before you use it every time.
I don't think you should get water on the upper parts because I might crack. Only wash the brushy part of the whisk with water in bowl
This thread seems like a good place to ask. What is a quick and a efficient way to brew a cup of coffee? I'm looking to move away from energy drinks but need something for late night focus while gaming, and coffee seems like the healthiest route.
I'm a complete coffee noob and only drink it maybe once a month when I buy breakfast at mcy d's, so brand or coffee type recommendations would be appreciated-- however the goal is that sweet caffeine.
The benefit is that it's a complete different drink. One is green tea and one is matcha.
Mister Japanese, I have a question about matcha, but I'm not the user you're engaging a conversation with.
How much time does a sealed bag of matcha lasts? How much time until it is open?
I happened to buy a 250gr. Bag of "organic matcha" but it says nothing about its duration.
Also, could I drink it with milk instead of water?
If so, what would be the process? Could I sweeten it?
I remember seeing a guy like you in Akihabara, he was dressed all fancy with a jet black overcoat in a maid cafe.
yeah but matcha seems to require more of a time investment to prepare than say tea, coffee, mate or just a glass of water so my question is why is that extra time investment worth it
just sell matcha to me Japanon jesus you suck at selling your product
Well, you're in a good place to try things, and in the present times were living the "third wave" of coffee brewing!
This means that it is now easier than ever to get into the best quality brew from your home!
So, what you would ideally do is having a batch of coffee beans that you're required to toast, grind and brew by yourself.
But that's for faggots.
Buy instant coffee. Boom.
Or a fancy looking one in a cafeteria (make sure you know where it is from, really interesting on Yas Forums perspective, and coffee, depending where it grows, and the kind, of course, develops certain qualities taste-wise) , buy a plastic filter holder, some filters and you're done, the most important part is that you don't have to fuck it up by pouring boiling water, the ideal temperature for any coffee (yes, even instant coffee) is 80~85°C
matcha is a much stronger drink than tea because it has actual tea leaves you drink. Strong taste and high caffine. It is also very high in antioxidants so very healthy
so it's like a very healthy version of your average caffeinated drink, ok cool thanks Japanon!
my coffee? nah, i just drink instant coffee (nescafe)
yea fuck instant. I'm lazy but not that lazy. It's 3am I just purchased this on amazon. did i do good?
amazon.com
amazon.com
Well, you'll have to get used to the aeropress® and buying aerofilters®.
But that gives you a great potential for trying new things!
I say, that after this coshit-19 thing goes flap, you go to the most posh cafeteria you can get to, give a firm handshake to the manager and tell them to give you the best Colombian coffee bag they offer, champ.
Colombian coffee is often associated with an aftermouth of "bitterness", which is what I think this McCafe© serves you. Also the blend of Nescafé is mostly Brazilian coffee, which has a more "sweet/sour" aftermouth.
If you want to further your experimentation, I'd reccomed reading this at first (it is on libgen): "Simone Egger, Ruby Ashby Orr - The Home Barista_ How to Bring Out the Best in Every Coffee Bean"
In resume, you did (impulsively) good, you bought what you felt like, so I can't really really tell you if you did "good" as it only serves you to decide that.
>aerofilters
oh fug not again! I do this all the time, i buy a product that with some special bullshit which exists in stores but i have to buy directly from them because of some retarded design choice. How the fuck did they process my order so fast? I can't even cancel it anymore. . . Shit! Well I guess I'm an aeropress® shill now.
>o to the most posh cafeteria you can get to, give a firm handshake to the manager and tell them to give you the best Colombian coffee bag they offer,
that sounds like a good idea. there are tons of coffee shops over my city. It's plagued actually. i ignore all... I just picked that because it was at the top of sorting by 5 stars and im use to my mcCoffee,
Do not worry, they are probably cheap as fuck.
The idea of getting into a cafeteria and asking for quality coffee beans and watching the process behind it is really interesting, I suggest you do it if you have the chance.
I think McCafe© would do enough to pass by for now.
Now, if OP could answer my questions about organic matcha I would be pleased.
