1-traditional characters are themselves a simplification and a standardisation
2-simplified characters are considerably more readable with smaller fonts

面 is worse. 面 by itself means face. When you add 麦wheat together its the same pronunciation but meaning of noodles.

I've talked with several taiwanese who live in the US now and they say they hate the language and learning it was the torture for them when they were still living in Taiwan. They say they don't hate on their natonality but just think that the language itself is extremely tedious to learn and takes too much time.

I mean, that's quite a biased pool of opinion if you ask me considering they're in the states
