>Nice to meet you, I am Matthew Zhang.
Does this happen in your country?
Nice to meet you, I am Matthew Zhang
No
Nice to meet you Matthew-san
yes
a guy I believed a westerner turned out to be Chinese from mainland when I met him
there was no Chinese name in his emails
Why do they have names like Jason Chen, Winston Wang? Like why the first name isn't Chinese?
Because they got bleached
White people cannot into Chinese names.
Western influence, same reason why we have names like "Kabir", "Jamal", "Khalid" etc. even if we aren't Persian or Arab.
Indian people have those sort of names? Even the non-Muslim ones?
yes
they take traditional french name and keep their ching chong last name
Yeah, my first name is Kabir lol... I know 2 guys named Jamal but they're Muslim.
Every single bananas do it tbqh
>Jamal
I thought that was African.
literally everywhere
It's a muslim name.
but it's convenient. When I introduce myself as "hi my name is Yoshihiro Kobayakawa or kuzuyuki Ogasawara" or something like that, no one understands. Foreigner have never called my name. Mattieuw Zang, Emily Wong, Nathan Ho, that's good.
Who do African Americans use "white" names instead of their black heritage names?
Although names like Sharkeisha and whatnot seems to be them trying to establish a black culture for themselves.
i know a chink who has a chinese name and french last name.
what kind of names should they take considering they don't even know which countries they came from in the first place?
Egyptian names, of course. Or Hebrew names.
>Western influence
No, Chinese give Chinese names to their children.
The American name is choosen by the Chinese himself because english is the lingua franca
I don't think Chinese call Jackie Chan 'Jackie' for example
>Yeah, my first name is Kabir lol... I know 2 guys named Jamal but they're Muslim.
Kabir was the name of an important guy for Hindouism though
Do non Muslims have Islamic names in India except special ones like Kabir?
The NoI movement was about African Americans adopting Islamic names. That's why you got them names like Tariq Nasheed, Jamal which are traditionally Muslim.
Funnily enough the Christian Africans back in Africa don't like Muslims.
They all come from the same general area so probably Nigeria or any other western country in the area. Anything is better than the weird ghetto stuff they make up. Like the unintentional spelling errors when they base it off of words or the ones where they just go off of what day of the week they were born on.
You realize Nigeria alone has several dozens languages spoken, right? There was no wider cultural area or common identity, just hundreds of different tribes.
Foreigner doesnt mean American that is unable to pronounce even his name right, not that a proxy state like yours would understand
What the chinese do by adopting anglo names is peak cuckold, just like your language is 50% english by now
Yes.but by the rest of the world he isnt knows as Xixia Chen, but as Jackie chen
it happened while I was in school but now it doesn't anymore because zhangs all got better jobs than me haha
>Who do African Americans use "white" names instead of their black heritage names?
I have the impression all americans tend to use american names no matter their race.
But still, there is some pattern, for example the famous Tyrone or proper Latin names like Cassius Clay for black peoples.
Also, a lot of Sub-saharan Africans use themselves English or French names so it would be weird if black americans made this effort
>Who do African Americans use "white" names instead of their black heritage names?
they were slave and uneducated
I don't know about Chinese names but Japanese name are relatively easy to pronounce (essentially vocalic song).
Some low class French call their children Kenzo for example, even though they would tell it is from Arabic origin while I don't know any Arabs named Kenzo.
>they were slave
Africans themselves use English/French name.
It has nothing to do with slavery.
>Bruce Lee
>Jackie Chan
>Andrew Yang
Think they just want to integrate better desu
