How do you say "yes" in your country?

>There wasn't an exact equivalent to the English word yes (i. e., a purely affirmative adverb). Words used for this actually meant "this way", "truly", "indeed".
Does anyone know if this is the same in ancient greek? Cause that would explain why those plato translations always sound so clunky
