How's the truck driving scene in your country?
I'm currently saving for a license. Have to admit that i'm still undecided between a bus driving license and a truck one.

I work in logistics in London and we've been struggling to recruit qualified HGV drivers for ages despite offering market rates.

When i went to the driving school, to gather information on this subject, i received many job offers from diverse companies wich knew i was interested in taking the license.
It seems that the industry is really desperate for truck drivers

Were they from Portuguese companies ?

Yes
I know that it's the same everywhere else in Europe

In 15 years most trucks will have automatic pilot without drivers

It's great here in Sweden.
Been a trucker for 10+ years.
This is one of my weekly routes.

only people who has never driven before say that

Truckers usually go abroad to work for foreign companies, because ours are shit. That's what I'm planning to do as well.

How hard is the toll on social life? I assume it must make it quite hard to find a gf or have a social life since you are always away on the road.

That's the main reason why i'm inbetween bus driving and truck driving.
I love to be on my own and i enjoy solitude but having just one day of the week to be with your friends and gf sucks balls

Not really a problem, I work contracts so I pick and choose my own working hours and if I want some time off I can just stop accepting jobs for a couple days or so.

I always wanted to be a trucker
>inb4 go back to playing ets
I know it's much harder irl, I just enjoy driving long distances and making money
>I assume it must make it quite hard to find a gf
Truck drivers are usually married, might wanna do that before you start I guess
How do you do that? Do you need to have your own truck?

>Do you need to have your own truck?
Yep. I have this beauty. Cost me a fortune but it's been worth it. It's my home on the road.

Based. I've been interested in doing this for a while, and now I am trying to find a way to finance the training as I want to go through a private driving school rather than become indentured to a company. My dream used to be owning my own truck eventually, and maybe some day getting more trucks and running my own small company, but I don't know how realistic that i.

What model is that?
How much do you make per one ride? And how long is average for you?
Sorry if I'm bombarding with questions, I would just really like to do the same kind of thing as you do.

Not him but

Volvo FH16 750hp probably around 2016-17 ish year model.

>that bull bar
has it really been useful or is it just for the looks?
looks a bit excessive desu

Looks epic indeed. Where do you park it btw?
In my case i don't think i would be able to afford a truck taking in consideration the meagre portuguese sallary (in comparison ofc)...

My best bet would be to try to get into Iberian-only hauls. That way i'm not too far from home and would be easier to consolidate work-life with social-life

Again not him but, we have a lot of wildlife, and if he is a nothern swede the reindeer's are retarded and lick road salt.

It's a Volvo FH16 750. And how much I earn per contract, well that depends on the contract.
Every single one is different.
Last Thursday/Friday I ran two smaller contracts and pulled in around 4600 euro in perhaps 11 hours combined driving.
Sweden is packed full of moose and deer. And there's thousands of accidents every year with them. Hitting a 500+ moose can ruin a truck completely. So yes. It's much needed.

how much do you earn a year?

damn, thats wild. here we only have squirels and foxes that end up as roadkill

> 00's DAF/MAN
> 2.750.000 mln km
> 80t netto
> lunar craters instead of roads after them
> 20k uah/ month

Anywhere between 60 000 -130 000 euro/year. But I also have to pay for repairs, maintenance, fuel and all that. Still, I make more than enough to live comfortably.
Yeah, we have about 45 000 wildlife accident per year here. Around 800 are seriously injured and 10-15 dies every year. Usually from moose collisions.
Pic related is what a normal car looks like after hitting a moose at 70 km/h. One dead, another seriously injured.

Are you happy with the 750 ?, is it a normal I-shift or double clutch ?.

/Volvo employee.

I absolutely love it. One of the smoothest trucks I've ever driven. It's an I-shift.

Dangerous

Normal I-shift that is.

How much is your fuel, maintenance, depreciation, vehicle repayments etc. (i.e. related costs) in an average month ?

Good to hear!, most people who buy 750's are in the forestry deal or heavy hauling.

Happy to hear that you enjoy it.

I've heard it's worst now than it was a decade or so ago. I used to work along with bus drivers a lot and a lot of them used to be truck drivers.
I'm interested in trying it as it sounds like a good life for me but I was retarded as a teenager and I can't even drive a car nor have the time or cash to get the license, let alone a truck license.

Is this considered a lot of money for Ukrainian standards? With this payment in Serbia, you would just be slightly above average, not worth truck driving.
