the Hungary revolted whole fucking time. it never stopped. the Austrians installed massive cavalry and infantry forces with a police state(Hungary was the first country in the world where each village had military or police unit guarding the place) inside to keep villages and locals down.

If WWI didn't happen or if it was won, the general consensus among the aristocracy is that the Empire would be reorganized into a confederation of states under one king/emperor. This would've been an interesting alternative to the EU. As soon as Franz Joseph died, blessed Karl started working on giving Croats full autonomy. If the empire hadn't collapsed Czechs or Rhutenians would've been next.

Serbian meme. Before WWI about a quarter of Croats were orthodox. There were whole brigades of Serbs fighting for their Croatian homeland. However, with the defeat in the war, our Orthodox church was absorbed into the Serbian one and Croatian orthodox identity was destroyed.
