I read that ice should be used if the injury caused any inflamation, which is not the case here.

I had a muscle tear in the exact same spot you showed me (the only difference is that I had it on the right side).
I applied ice, it hurt like a mofo (it hurt to even stand) for a couple of days, but then I was good as new.
I had the same experience with a muscle tear on my knee, and one on my shoulder.
I mean, I'm not a doc, but at least you're not having the same muscle tear experience that I've had. Better get it checked, it could be a tendon
