it's just boring, real life isn't like harvest moon or whatever fantasy you're thinking of
these places (lived in a very rural area of vermont for years) are dead, there's no people, absolutely nothing to do, if you need groceries, lightbulbs or literally anything it's a half hour+ drive, have a health emergency? by the time the ambulance gets there you're dead
also the amount of grass you have to mow and keeping up with everything else. I could go on
