Because beer is tasty and in the right proportions can loosen you up. I don't like getting drunk though. I don't find full-blown drunkenness pleasant and I've never such a good time being wild and drunk it was worth the hangover. I have however have very fun and memorable experiences and conversations having a cozy alcohol buzz from drinking good beer and sobering up by the end of the night and waking up feeling great.

I haven't had any serious hangovers in the past couple of years after being wasted. I don't know if it's the age or has my health improved or something. I also don't drink often so it's additionally bizarre.
