Yas Forums's golden age was 09-14, back when you had to be patrician by filling your chart with random world music albums (sharethreads were top tier during this period) and a series of meme shitstorms occurred (my beautiful dark twisted fantasy got a 10/10 on pitchfork)
Yas Forums's golden age flourished from like 2012-2015 or thereabouts, where it was a medium-sized board with a real character to it
Yas Forums's golden age lasted until recently, where it was the only board reliably creating OC

other boards like /lit/ and /his/ haven't really gone through cataclysmic changes like other boards have, so they remain useful. Yas Forums on the other hand has been utterly unusuable for years now because it's just a discord for teenagers to discuss celebrity gossip now.

Yas Forums dipped in quality for a few years but is now a pretty ok board. nothing on Yas Forums ever was or ever will be "good" though.

/sp/ was the most bro-tier board and got along with everyone. i remember /sp/ being bro'd up with Yas Forums, it was bro'd up with Yas Forums, /sp/ and it's incessant spam was charming in the way only Yas Forums can be.

Yas Forums, in my opinion, took a hit at some point in the last few years. i'm only now returning here.

what pains me is Yas Forums, because it was MY board for years and years and years and it was gradually overrun by enough newfags that they started knowingly overturn board culture. the newfags on Yas Forums were worse than anywhere else. you'd have people saying "ok, i completed x genre and i didnt like it" and you'd ask "what the fuck do you mean you ""completed it""? and they'd respond, earnestly: "i listened to the top 5 albums and didnt like em."

when you would argue, like had always been done on Yas Forums, that you had to dive deep into genres and couldn't just listen to RYM's top 5 albums they'd be like "lmao no ok boomer xD xD xD who has the time to listen to music lol" and the board never recovered.

Yas Forums got worse and then it stabilized but you can see the board it always was. Yas Forums is utterly unrecognizable.
