In comparison our government claims roughly 800-1000 people die of corona weekly here.

You would be surprised how many people die from accidents in their own homes.
In US it's around 90000 per year.

You can simplify as much as you want but there is not just a one reason all those people died. What people here are arguing about is either:

or
>Corona didn't kill almost any of them
Many of those deaths could be delayed in one way or another, but more often than not people who die are old and have multiple other diseases.
And those people can literally die from catching cold.
It's the fact that people underestimate flu by saying "it's just a flu".
Look at average human lifespan over human history and how in past century we made huge leap.

Er is in een jongen van 29 jaar zonder onderliggende klachten overleden hier in brabant. Natuurlijk zijn er altijd uitzonderingen though. Maar we moeten wel écht een exit strategie asap. Als de hele economie naar de kloten is gaan er ook doden vallen.

Denk je werkelijk dat zolang de angst voor corona (nadruk op angst) speelt er weer gewoon gewerkt gaat worden of mensen weer normaal uitgaven gaan doen?

Angst? hier loopt een constante stroom mensen op straat. De angst die je noemt wordt vooral aangewakkerd door de media die alleen maar focust op al het negatieve nieuws. Corona is erg maar de meeste zullen geen ernstige klachten krijgen. Zo'n lange lockdown is niet meer proportioneel. Je kan wel afgeven op vvd'ers of een Jort Kelder die alleen aan de economie denken maar onderschat niet wat een economische crisis of depressie kan aanrichten. De economie is meer dan de AEX denk maar aan alle lokale ondernemers die nu of over een paar maanden al moeten stoppen.

Economie is massa-psychologie. Onze economie is gebouwd op het idee dat mensen vertrouwen hebben in de toekomst en op die manier met hun geld omgaan. Dat betekend het aangaan van leningen, het doen van grote uitgaven, etc.

Op dit moment potten mensen alles op wat ze hebben. Dit ga je echt niet ff oplossen door de cafes weer open te gooien

Domestic consumption is imporant for the economy. In the 90s we had a bad recession and it took years to get out from. Exports started running againfast enough but the unemployment rate in services etc was high and a lot of businesses went bankrupt. We hit every years record exports but it didnt show in most people life.

Ja ik ben het eens met die stelling. Maar je moet dus wel gaan denken aan een systeem waar je de economie probeert op te starten. Hier zie ik nog wat winkels open conform de RIVM richtlijn(dus beperkt aantal klanten etc). De oplossing is ook niet makkelijk en het is lastig te voorspellen hoe de ontwikkelingen zijn. Ik vraag mij nu vooral af, heiligt het doel de middelen.
