How do common people in Europe view their royal families?
>France

They nees to be bred by black men asap
The majority considers the King a demi-God. While a minority considers him the ultimate welfare leech.
The Queen has approval ratings in the 80s and 90s here. Saying bad things about her instantly makes you a social pariah.

In the Netherlands 68% has a lot of faith in the King. 21 is in the middle. 4% has little faith in the King.
And 8% wants a republic.
20% wants more power to the King. 49% wants to keep the status quo. 16% wants less power to the King.
Yeaaaaaaah........ about that..
I want them to dominate me.
I want to serve them.
I want to be their slave.
They're like anime character.
>How do common people in Europe view their royal families?
They're either respected, seen as cute, ignored or dislike. Depending on what kind of person you are.
In the opinion polls the King scores a 7,6/10 and the Queen a 8/10.
74% is happy with the performance of the King. And again 4% is unhappy.
People who like him mention that he's warm, involved, represents the Netherlands well, and is a man of the people.
Virtually all his critics have a problem with how much money he receives and that he doesn't pay taxes.
>Virtually all his critics have a problem with how much money he receives and that he doesn't pay taxes.
Why care about taxes if he's 100% state funded anyway?
>20% want more power to the King
Ah yes, the based section of society.
I'm so sorry we lost the American war of Independence. I'm so so sorry.
The Queen is untouchable here. You are allowed to criticise Prince Charles but if you criticise the Queen you will be a social pariah.
What a shame. Imagine America being divided by the ethnicity of its immigrants instead of being one big mutt conglomerate.
A bunch of leeches.

Our government actively tries to hide the real expenses of the monarchy.
In 2008 our government said the monarchy costed 114 million a year, which received a lot of critisism.
But since then it has decreased to 42 million a year, by hiding the expenses under different budgets. Such as the defence budget. They receive 8,5 million in their pocket, but most of their expenses are already paid and fall outside of this number, such as their palaces, workers, travel and such.
But the King also has a lot of wealth of his own. So according to a conservative estimate he doesn't pay 192 million in taxes every year over his own investments.
But it could be a lot more, as his grandma used to own 25% of shell. Which is the largest private oil company in the world.
So if we would start taxing the King, he would literally bring in more than all imaginable expenses combined.
The Queen pays taxes here, although voluntarily, not by law.
In the Netherlands the King is above the law. He cannot be held accountable for anything. He cannot be investigated. And he doesn't say what he owns.
The King and the government are also one. And they speak in one voice. If the King would break the law, the the corresponding minister would be responsible.
So if the King would have to pay taxes, but refuses, then a politician would have to take the fall for it. Which is something they don't feel like doing.
He's not even descended from the real Napoleon lmao
YIKES that's going in my KEK FOLDER
Maybe if you live in the gay home counties.
I view ours quiete well, shes relatable and down to earth relative speaking. I would be against changing her, or our crownprince, for a president, simply by looking at how often presidents are changed, and how that often lead to persons as head of states, that are less relatable, a bigger expense for the gains, and they're always political, so there's a chance that you just don't like them, simply for political values. Our regent is instead beloved and respected, and is a great diplomat for our contry, and holds regions closer together by the peoples good relations to her. Also, she might aquire a lot of wealth from the state, and some want the monarchy to end because of that, but i don't see how that will improve with presidents, where having a current and 5-10 retired presidents will probably not be cheaper, and as our monarchy use most of the wealth given to them on keeping the castle and gardens they have all over the country and boosting the culture, i see it as a net positive.
