And our biggest issue right now isn't a contraction of GDP, it's the fact that a balance of payments adjustment seems imminent (albeit not one as harsh as Argentina's) and the fiscal sustainability of the government is very questionable even more so now that we our credit rating got demoted.

I'd say the way forward for us is with Peru, Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica and any other Latin American country that doesn't go left or right wing retard, the TPP has been defanged way too hard by the US and Canada.

I've been to Chile and whilst it has European tier outlook at some place at others it's the same favela style one would expect from the cliches of how South America looks like. Still better than any other country I traveled there with the exception of Argentina, which seems pretty much the same overall.
