My dad worked in Indonesia in the 80's for Japan Gas Corporation. He stayed in Jakarta. Once he told me he went out to a bar with a friend and his friend was drunk and started making out with a woman (who happened to be a tranny, yet he didn't notice) so my dad got him by the wrist and took him out of the bar and the tranny got mad at him because he was "stealing" one of "her" clients (lol) so he followed them to the hotel and sneak attacked my dad with "her" purse...

The hotel people saw the ruckus that was going on and they went there to try to intervene. Then like 20 people came and told my dad and his friend (who looks pretty white) "Stay out of this you two foreigners" And they then proceeded to beat the shit out of the tranny until "she" was unconscious. So they had to phone the police and an ambulance. LOLOLOL

Also he told me that when he was in Indonesia, at a construction site, a man approached him with his young daughter (probably like 16 or something) and told him that he wanted my dad to marry her. LOL

It's not pertain to foreigners, non-local people also got offered. I think it's something like to elevate their prosperity or something like that.
I don't know how it is now, but before 21st century, it was like that.
My uncle and his family were terrorised by some girl that wanted to marry him. She claimed that she already gave him a present which was the dowry (she just gave him out of context). He even requested to get the fuck out of the town from the corps he worked to, because my cousin got afraid of people. I meant, the girl came every day to meet my uncle (despite my uncle was working).
My dad (who is already married to my mom at that time) almost got married to some girl too. My dad got a work in Borneo at that time, and my mom's dad told him to not eat any foods that the locals offered if it fitted some clicks. He really got offered (alongside with his friends) to have dinner by some locals and he did what my granpa instructed, found out the food wasn't something that he should eat, so he went to toilet for minutes until the mealtime was finished. Weeks later, his friends got married with daugthers of the families that invited them.

There used to be a lot of trade between SEA and India, so there are some descendants of those guys that come here because of trade. But I think most of the Indians in Indonesia comes from Sumatra (Due to Tamil invading and BTFO'ing Sriwijaya).

This is the biggest reason though. Malaysia and Singapore Tamils were brought by the Brits to work there. From what I heard they got angry when Malaysia started destroying their temples (?) but I'm not sure if that is true.
