Our rail network is good but not impressive. Netherlands is a small flat country with a lot of urbanisation so it isn't too hard to build a rail network here.

A mere 10 years later stuff ten times its size in much more difficult geology was being built. Urban railroad tunnels have long been a thing, with the New York's LIRR having built a tunnel underneath Downtown Brooklyn back in 1844.

New York's subway has this really ominous feel to it, just saying that from looking at pictures and watching videos of it. the London Underground is dirty too but it still has this rundown charm to it. New York's just seems sketchy.

Outer London is pretty comfy. Cheaper larger housing, easy rail access to centre whilst being quiter and being norf west london it's just full of old white women who shop at Waitrose, are brexiteers, and listen to Veera Lynn rather than cosmopolitan elites or pocs in the centre.
