Why would we?
I heard you aren't allowed to be in Berlin unless you're gay or an immigrant.
Racism against Swabians is the only allowed racism in cities like Berlin.
Aren't they historically poorer than everyone else?
Liberals do. Bavaria is the only state that has a somewhat Conservative party and it drives them mad.
No the AfD does not count
lmao no.
They are the wealthiest actually. Historically Saxony was quite wealthy now its a Post-Commie shithole, and even worse its filled with Saxons
aren't they so autistic they make low germans seem normal in comparison ?
can confirm
t. turbosperg from Baden-Württemberg
yes
based if true
Not really... They are successful, but unless you live in Sachsen-Anhalt, Thüringen, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, you should be fine coping with that. Every German state has something nice, but these four are the most irrelevant.
no we only have an inferiority complex towards poland
I lived in the north, people liked the south though they made fun of the funny accents (Schwäbisch especially but Bavarian as well) and of their regional pride.
The south is genuinely cosier than the north especially compared to a hellhole like NRW
aren't saxons the most important germans? they created britain
Rhein-Ruhr is a hellhole (specifically the Ruhrgebiet), but the Münsterland and Aachen are very cozy.
I have friends in the north and they think they're pretty weird
what happened 1500 years ago isn't too relevant to what's happening today
also the modern state of Saxony isn't where the ancient Saxons lived (Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein)
Saxony isn't exactly the same as the region where the Saxons lived. For example, Charles the Great killed thousands of Saxons in order to christianize them and most of these battles took place in what is Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) today.
>Sachsen.Anhalt
most unesco world heritage sites in Germany, lots of writer, composer and other famous germans are from here (Luther, Bismarck, Genscher), but youre right nowadays nothing happens there, but they can be proud anyway, did more for Germany than Bavaria (in the grand scheme of things)
>Thüringen
Thüringer Rostbratwurst, Thüringer Wald, Thüringer Klöße, literally one of the 5 best Bundesländer there are.
>Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
The coast, baltic sea and the "Mecklenburger Seenplatte" are pretty nice tho
why is it called saxony then?
I was living 40mn away from Münster, apart from Münster itself and the Teutoburger Wald (with Hermannsdenkmal and the externsteine) the area isn't particularly nice.
because the Saxons expanded there
I included them in "every German state has something nice", they are neat as well, but they still are the most irrelevant ones overall. They are the youngest states, the poorest, the least developed and have a low population as well. Nice nature and everything aside. They're alright and being the least developed regions in Germany still isn't bad, but still.
It is tied to the Saxons, no doubt. But it's not THE Saxony, it's ONE saxony. And it later became a relevant kingdom on its own, you don't change the name then.
What makes Saarland or RLP more relevant?
Because Tribal dutchy of Saxony was split numerously throughout history by our Emperors, one of said dutches eventually became a Kingdom which after the state is named.
>Teutoburger Wald
Has some nice corners, but nothing particularly great. The Münsterland is nice nevertheless, lots of cozy villages.
Aachen is great if you ask me.
And on the Rhine, Bonn and Düsseldorf are decent. NRW isn't a hellhole, the Ruhrgebiet is, with Köln being also pretty ugly apart from some nice areas.
when did saxons stop existing in germany
Both have more money, Saarland is irrelevant in terms of population and their future seems pretty grim, but they are still more developed. RLP has twice the population of Sachsen-Anhalt and Thuringia and they're also more developed and wealthy.
No German region has to feel shit for what they are, but it's a fact that the East has troubles with connecting. Berlin at least is the capital and the largest city and they have an interesting history, similar case with Saxony. Thuringia, Sachsen-Anhalt and MVP are the newest, poorest and least developed members of Germany and that's why they normally should be the only ones that have to feel inferior to Bayern and Baden-Württemberg, but even that's not sure.
They are nice places as well.
Charles the Great won, but it took him many years. That was ~800. At the end of the war, many Saxons were killed and the others became Christians. They assimilated with the other Germans, but they didn't stop existing in the first place. This process took many centuries, the Saxons still are alive in a way, but there aren't pure-bred Saxons anymore. Some regions may have more Saxon admixture than others, Saxony being one of them, I guess.
the only place of germany with a soul
Hessen hat Seele
do people in germany ever think about how england is related to them or is it completely irrelevant
x doubt
What about Austria then?
Austria is not part of Germany as anyone with first grade geography knowledge would know
>austrians
>soul
good one
Not really... As the central part of Europe, we have ties to many different other countries. Most people are somewhat aware of it, but we have other things to turn to. It's not like we really care. The last time it was a big topic was when the Nazis tried to convince Britain to side with us because of our historical relation. It's still an interesting thing and some people care more about it than others. The words Anglo and Saxon being tied to Germany, that's ironic concerning the recent history we share with Britain, apart from the fact that the British royal family is a German dynasty.
Are you that Austrian who thinks people in South Tirol are Austrians but you guys aren't German?
Austrians are still Germans despite having their own nation, as anyone with first grade knowledge should know.
