Manual transmission

>manual transmission
Why does it impress American car enthusiasts so much?

Because automatic transmissions are standard to the point that many people will go their entire lives without having to drive manual.

Thus, it is exotic and uncommon and people with simple minds view that as objectively better, when it's simply a difference.

Now show me some apu memes

But manual has no advantages over automatic nowadays

Automatics have been standard so long that it is considered nostalgic or classic to have a manual. Knowing how to use one is considered like an antiquated skill like woodworking with hand tools. Either that, or you are considered trailer trash.

the retards who jerk off about muh manual are so cringe

would you prepared to look into your children's faces and tell them you never fought for the manual turbodiesel wagon?

yes until they make it and then i wont buy or otherwise think about it

Manuals are more fun and pleasant to drive.

cheaper to repair/maintain
can achieve better fuel economy
oil deteriorates less rapidly
overall funner and provide more control

automatic is a trillion times better stop being autistic

noooooooo what do you mean, I want to have fun and control over my 90 HP opel corsa while I'm driving to work

no one cares about manual, in fact they're a nuisance, why aren't you out manually cranking your starter

>being an automaticel
who manualchad here?

>Manuals are more fun and pleasant to drive.
No. They are not. Specially if you live in a place with a lot of hills and traffic lights.
Clutching, declutching and accelerating on this conditions is a fucking living hell and puts a lot of fucking stress on your gearbox.

It's basically same shit. If you're a good driver, you don't actually think about gears, you switch instinctively.
Automatics in higher priced cars are arguably better in everything unless you're race car driver.
Automatics in shitboxes aren't that great, but overall there's no difference.

Americans drive a lot and there's a lot of traffic so I guess it can be kinda too much to drive on clutch and gas for an hour or so.

to thoose who think like this i dont think like that and have started to really hate manuals over the years. completely ruins my driving experience.

Which would you rather have ? An auto e36 m3 or a manual e36 m3?

Car enthusiasts are cringe manchildren equivalent of Nintendo/Marvel soyboys, they're babies stuck inside the body of an adult.
>Noooooooooooo you can't drive with this particular transmission!!!!
>Noooooooooooo you can't drive with this particular engine!!!!
>Noooooooooooo you can't drive this particular brand!!!!
>Noooooooooooo you can't drive this particular car!!!!
>Noooooooooooo you can't drive this particular vehicle!!!!
>Noooooooooooo you can't ride the bus!!!!
>If you like what I dislike and do what I tell you not do to then you are a faggot/nigger/poorfag/cuck/soyboy/richfag!!!!!!! etc

In fact all people who's identity/personality revolves around consuming a particular commodity are cringe, from videogames, to guns, to cars, to makeup etc
But carfags win the trophy when it comes to be manchildren worried if their car makes them look manly, strong, rich and if it will get them laid/hired/befriended or whatever.
Develop a real personality outside of being a consumer whore and most importantly kys. Pic semi-related.

You're an awful driver then. Why do people pretend using clutch and shifting gears is some arcane art or superhuman effort if you're driving a car made after 1970?
Even fucking hill starts are nothing special. Last time I stalled the engine on a hill start was 10 years ago when I was 15 and my dad was teaching me to drive, and I'm not even that good of a driver.

>tfw when i can clutch kick and driftu when im bored.

i dont think it impresses car enthusiasts, only a super normie person mighg be impressed by someone driving a manual, otherwise most people dont care

>>Noooooooooooo you can't ride the bus!!!!
this
I don't get why people like this can't just let others enjoy things

when you where 15 i had been driving for 15 years. some things you just grow tired of and when you know there is something out there that does said task for you it becomes a million times more boring. i just want to chill back, cruise around and sip my coffe.

Fair enough sir.

I said in my post that manuals weren't better. What is this putting words in my mouth.
I expected better, especially from Finland which is my favorite country

Most car thieves, at least in the states, don't know how to drive stick.

i was not refering to your thinking, but the people you described
>people with simple minds view that as objectively better

It's true. People who base their whole existince around something are so weird and usually end up becoming parodies of themselves. Car enthusiasts who insist that you have to fit within the specific conformity of brand or type they've been told to align with, or watch enthusiasts who insist that Rolex or Patek are good because they're good, without questioning the practical use of what they're spending their money on are so weird. These people often end up consuming things just because it is the thing to buy, without critically thinking about why they started in the first place. They simaltanously act quirky and snobby with the hobby at the same time.

My mistake, love you bud

>view that as objectively better, when it's simply a difference.

It is objectively better though. There's a reason why, prior to the development of paddle-shifted dual-clutch transmission, manual was almost exclusively used in racing.

Hint: It's because it's faster and gives you superior control.

*almost exclusively used FOR racing, not saying people didn't commute with them as well

well it depends on the racing. if it lap after lap on a circuit its no use in auto, if its lots of start and stop and you absolutely definetly need all power you have to the wheels in an instant, its only auto. dragracing meh, but you get more consistent times with auto. remember a race prepped one is pretty far from your grandmas lincoln.
t. offroad race mechanic, no one use manual

it doesn't make you sleepy on the road

Manual is much better, it`s not even a contest, even the best automatic gear I've driven doesn`t come close to a 90s car with manual shift
