I like to learn about other cultures/languages, but so far I've been invested in Iceland, Ghana and to some extent Japan. What about you bros?

Recently I've come down with an autistic desire to learn icelandic.
Me too. I love the pronunciation and the way you tie words together. Too bad it's not in Duolingo
Ireland is pretty nice.
It is on mangolanguages, and I've found some other online resources but it's pretty hard to find comprehensive stuff out there which makes it a bit frustrating. I think probably the best way to learn it is to study basics on those online resources and then try to find some sort of Icelandic discord server and just try and immerse yourself in the language. It doesn't help that it's not so easily typed either.
I got on good authority that immersing myself into a language is a good way of learning. You're speaking and before you know it, you're already integrating foreign words.
What's that african place that built those walls, Attack on Titan style? I know it's sort of around Ghana. Can you tell us why they built it?
What language did you learn that way? I've never learned another language unfortunately, I'm hoping this burst of autistic engagement will help me change that.
> Never watched Attack on Titan
> Never been in Ghana
I dunno what to tell you.
English of course, kek. Though I was going to native American language classes prior to the virus, so I stuck being bilingual.
I'm going to cry
I learnt exclusively by watching youtube videos, reading shitty scanlations of manga and doujinshi and shitposting on imageboards
it certainly is possible, though I was about 14-15 when I started, I don't know how much age influences your capacity in these specific circumstances
but you should fare decently well no matter your age. note that this only really works with lots of time invested.
a better strategy probably is to teach some basic to you and then start reading icelandic book/ listening to icelandic videos/ podcasts etc.
i.e. get the basics down, it'll get much easier from there
USA
which language did you study?
teach some basics*

I should go to bed
Comcáac. It's very cool! And in a way pretty similar to Nordic languages.
Yeah... I don't know why they'd build them, pal. Sorry.
If you have Netflix you can set it to Icelandic
Thank you guys for the advice! Hopefully I'll pick up some basic Icelandic and develop enough confidence to try and speak it to others.
I learnt english exclusively*
I'm off to bed, see ya
See ya Germanbro

ah, polypersonal agreement. always nice to see in a language

I love all the countries
one last post :>
cute :3
Same! It just happen I decide to study a few of them, but in reality every country has great things (and bad things, but that's part of being human)
Lovely!
I've been a otaku since I was a little kid.
Other than Japan I've never been too interested in other countries much at all. In college however I started learning about the Russian Nihilists and that was a very interesting experience.
I can't be too sure but based on what I've seen of how people act online, I think I'm most fond of Slavic people. The demeanor is cool, profiles strong, and attitude is no bullshit. Remember Givi, for example?

After telling myself for years that I wouldn't do it, I caved and became a hardcore weeaboo
Used to learn a few other languages like Spanish or French back in college (even aced my french final on 3 hrs of sleep lmao) but I lost interest and have forgotten most of what I learned
Have to admit it's kind of hard learning a language when it's up to (You) to learn it and there's no classes to sort of pressure you into learning it
I really love the niggers from the north
