have you guys spoken to actual japs? finally had a conversation with one irl. even when i was saying basic things it's like i had a really thick accent and he couldn't understand me. it's really demoralizing. writing and reading are easier by far than speaking/listening, fuck.

>writing and reading are easier by far than speaking/listening, fuck. Because you spend too much time on reading and writing. Even if you watch something with subtitles, it's not going to improve your listening. Just try news with audio, first listen then read. RInse and repeat untill you understand everything.
a talking cockroach? amazing. i talk out loud to myself and read out loud. apparently doesn't matter though. i didn't think my pronunciation was bad at all but then japanese fren didn't understand half the shit i said. so idk. i failed the trial by fire. i sing along to japanese music, too. valid. i do mainly read, i don't even watch much anime. i know ultimately the answer is to practice more, but it was rather shocking. i wonder where i could grab some radio dramas or something.
>i talk out loud to myself and read out loud. that makes it worse, you're pounding your own incorrect pronunciation into your head when you do that
