Makes me sick. Only roaches would come up with this. Japanese made simplifications as well but it makes more sense.

the only problem with it is they did it in a way that makes no sense like this image shows.
and some of the "simplyifing" maeks no difference.

Most Japanese simplification are moderate and very few. There are some I don't like like 広仏与図 竜

The argument in the OP is silly. Writing systems are forged by arbitrariness - it doesn't really matter if the association is between a word and a simple or compound character, as long as there is some association.

That said I think SC was a bad move. The only advantage a logographic system has to phonemic ones (abjad, alphabet, etc.) is longevity of the spelling, and yet they trashed it away not for phonemic purposes, but for... a few strokes?
