How do you feel that your cities are closer to a museum than a city?
Do you appreciate living in history or do you think it needs modernization?
Question to Europeans
I wish people would stop peddling this meme, actually visit the cities before thinking we're just sitting in undeveloped ruins
>your cities are closer to a museum than a city?
that only applies to a few european cities, like Venice or Rome
This is what I meant
Stop getting offended over everything faggot
you Posted Paris(?) that clearly is NOT a museum city
thanks to the havoc the Germs caused, its not that old in many cities
Paris is pretty modern as a city, it just lacks a bit of skyscrapers. But there is a project of 320 meters high twin towers, the Hermitage Plaza.
It clearly has historic statues, I mean the thing in the center, imagine you are getting out from your house and see someone take a selfie
Germans deserve nothing but death, unironically.
Basically everything ugly in Europe is due to rebuilding due to (mostly allied) bombing of historical cities. Old cities are beautiful.
I was not talking about ugliness.
Let's say I live in a 400 years old house, I won't feel comfortable, but here are people living in historic cities
t. g*Rman stooge
>I live in a 400 years old house
It never happens.
It's just what everyone is used to. When you start learning its history you appreciate it even more. Many people walk past 1000 year old churches or buildings with a rich history without even knowing it.
*the Jews caused.
>Do you appreciate living in history or do you think it needs modernization?
That's what we are doing right now
Then: Now: pic rel
you must be a really dumb person for saying something this retarded when this plan is already in the works and has gotten even further in France since the enemy does not really differentiate between european peoples.
I live in Venice, yes it isn’t convenient, yes there aren’t all the modern stuff that other cities (even smaller) have but there’s something that old cities have while modern don’t, they are a beautiful mess, they developed in an organist way that makes you feel good walking in them. Modernist cities don’t, they have economy as their focal point. I don’t enjoy walking in the modern districts of Milan or Turin... you really feel they have been designed on a computer. Venice is completely different from anything else, I love it.
who is the enemy
Thanks man, this is what I was looking for
I hope you succeed.
I wish my country wasn't corrupt because we have some nice historic site but corporations often hide them
My friends college professor (an engineer) told them they found a buried city under the sea while building something, but the company just sealed the city off and built its building without telling the gov
>How do you feel that your cities are closer to a museum than a city?
Ok retard
I meant like what the user said
I think Lebanon is still way more historical than the vast majority of cities/countries in Europe.
>Finland
>History
I like looking at pictures of my town from 100+ years ago and recognizing some buildings that are still standing today
The cities that have attempted modernisation look fucking shit now.
Look at the state of London and Paris for example.
Every old city in Asia and Europe has statues and shit like that
My city is at least 800 years old and full of antiquated things
It's comfy.
Isn’t Lebanon in the cradle of civilization?
You must have like Assyrian and Babylonian ghosts coming out of the woodwork
I like the old part of town, comfy small hundreds years old houses. It is kinda like a museum, but people still live there.
most cities have buildings from the A-H era in the center, plus some historic things, yes i like it, its nice
based
guess (((who)))
The only downside is the tourism. I wouldn't mind living among old buildings with history if it wasn't for the annoying tourists.
comfy
Its super comfy now without tourists
No, fuck some cheap ugly Glass towers
It has many old places but they are not like cities in Europe
They are separate.
We have many old places but we don't live in them.
Many buildings were destroyed after the civil war because of a greedy comapany, some of them are 600 years old.
Beirut looks pretty modern
ususally there is a historic core and the "other parts"
actually more modern than I expected, looks like a wealthy country
That's just the downtown.
A minster here made a project named the "downtown project" we're he destroyed historic houses and built modern ones, he planend on expmnding it to all Lebanon but he got as sainted and his son was a total failure.
How durable are those roofs? It looks like they can leak a lot
you know nothing
This used to be Beirut before the war
Looks ugly honestly.
>your cities are closer to a museum than a city?
what?
theyre cities, people live in it, what are you talking about?
they are 500-300 years old, so very durable I would say.
Im not an expert but apparently sod roofs are good to keep water out and heat in.
How is Lebanon doing economically? Will it ever be as rich as Israel?
My work has me living in a 350 year old building which has been refitted for the purpose. it's really nice, if you can afford to live in these areas, though some moderate modifications are necessary in many areas. It definitely beats living in boring car-centric areas. I entirely agree with italanon I think the problem with "museum cities" is that all of the nice buildings and areas are taken over by business. You end up with soulless areas, much like in paris or london who have lost a lot of the population that made the place interesting. Montmartre, and the trinita dei monti are perfect examples of what's happening to those areas. it's the same shops, same products everywhere, whether in Naples or Madrid, and few people can afford the rent.
>and few people can afford the rent.
On the other hand, these places are only interesting if you can visit them, if they were closed for tourists they wouldn't have that much recognition
Based
soul
this
lol fuck off, you destroyed so many castles here
yes i do, it's even an older building
>. it's the same shops, same products everywhere, whether in Naples or Madrid
Yea only Zara, McDonald, Burger King, Mediaworld, Decathlon, etc.
>mocks in our history
>posts picture of Paris which got totally rekt by Haussmann in 19th century. One of the most modern cities in France. Literally more modern than eg. NYC.
>ususally
usually
No, I like the mix between old and new very much, most modern stuff is nice for work, but rather soulless.
None of our cities are close to a museum. Most buildings here are new
>closer to a museum than a city
what the fuck did he mean by this
This is the oldest house in London. About 400 years
