SO CALLED «CLASSICAL» MUSIC —MUSIC MADE, APPROXIMATELY, FROM THE LATTER THIRD OF THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY TO THE MIDDLE OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY— IS BORING, BECAUSE IT IS SOULLESS; THIS TYPE OF MUSIC IS SOULLESS BECAUSE IT WAS MADE BY SOULLESS INDIVIDUALS; THE ARTISTES OF THIS EPOCH WERE SOULLESS BECAUSE, EITHER: THEY WERE ILLUMINISTS, OR: THE ILLUMINISTIC MILIEU IN WHICH THEY LIVED HAD SUBCONSCIOUSLY AFFECTED THEM DETRIMENTALLY.
SO CALLED «CLASSICAL» MUSIC IS THE ABERRANT, ABOMINABLE, AND TEDIOUS, RESULT OF «THE ENLIGHTENMENT'S» ATTEMPT TO SET A NEW STYLE OF MUSIC IN CONCORD WITH SUPERRATIONALISTIC & ATHEISTIC STANDARDS, IN ANTITHESIS OF BAROQUE MUSIC, WHICH PRECEDED IT.
Excellent thread, lots of good ones here.

For me, it's Vivaldi.
Everyone thinks of Spring, but Spring is kind of soulless and if you want two completely breathtaking entry-level Vivaldi movements you need not look any further than the Four Seasons itself.

and to think i was staunchy against vivaldi for so long... my bias against strings was quickly dismantled the instant I took a moment to listen to what was going on underneath the shrill tambre of Summer.
Then there's of course Gould's performance of Bach's First Piano Concerto. Part of the experience is watching him play, it's breathtaking.
Begins at 5 minutes in.

Don't let me forget Chopin. Nocturne Op. 27 No. 2 is not talked about as much as Op. 9 No. 2 or other popular ones, but it's a wonderful piece to listen to and enjoy.

Of course none of this is "Classical" per se. "Classical" music isn't typically quite as fun as romantic, impressionist, or baroque music (surrounding classical on either side) unless you're talking about the obvious Beethoven and Mozart.
Speaking of impressionist (and yet ardently anti-impressionist) there's some great Debussy music that gets slept on in favor of fucking Claire de Lune.
I've listened to La Mer hundreds of times, I know every note by heart by this point. It is still refreshing. Debussy says it is a piece written not to evoke the sea, but to put the listener into communication with the sea. Kind of an interesting way to think about it.

Here's one Debussy actually hated apparently, he found it to be inauthentic. I appreciate it as a purely mathematical composition. It's soulless in a kind of beautiful way, like an dead, barren night sky.

Debussy hated a lot of weird things. It's quite funny to read his letters.

Do any of you play classical music? I wish it wasn't such an uncommon hobby/interest. No one in my age plays classical music or even listens it. I wish I had someone to go to classical music concerts with.
I used to play both Piano and Viola. Haven't played in yerars since I left home though. I Still have the instruments, just have nowhere to put them for the time being.
Clasical music is overrated tbqh
