Writing code for 2-4 hours a day is a-ok. Software development is about figuring out solutions for problems You're being paid for what's between your two ears and not how fast you can type, even if your boss is non-technical and doesn't realize this himself. Just google this, most developers admit to only having a couple of productive hours in a day. Unless you take adderall or waste your time writing boilerplate you're not going to pump out code 8 hours straight and do it for more than a day or two without majorly burning out.
