yes, definitely. Not only between countries but within them. Black and white cubans for example have different social customs and stuff. same with puerto ricans. With mexicans it is the divide between assimilated mestizos and more traditional indians.

1-In Mexico if there is a lot of difference between states, it is a multi-cultural and multi-language country.
2 & 3- Racism is not really a problem, only the "high class" are usually tend to be racist, the real problem among Latinos is "classism", if you have money, it doesn't matter if your skin is green or purple.
4.- Nobody cares, as I said, the problem is not racism but classism.

Mexico is very diverse so this will vary. I will try to answer based on experience and not reading

very different. whites and whiter mestizos are often assimilated into western culture, mestizos have the more traditional hispanic culture, natives have a more traditional native culture with some religious, dietary, etc differences

definitely. many of the rich are white, as in full blooded. natives are almost always poor, and the middle classes are mostly mestizo.
An anecdote: I celebrated someone's birthday with my whiteish/mestizo family on a plantation. all those who were serving us were native. our clothing combined with the racial disparity and location made it look similar to something you'd have seen in the 1800's.

Mestizos have a culture closer to that of other Latin American countries (specially urban Peruvian culture). Middle and upper classes have a more European (and recently American) oriented culture.

Lower class is mestizo
Middle class is castizo (quarter Indian) or Criollo (Spanish-ethnicity born in the Americas for generations),
Upper classes are Spanish or other Europeans immigrants (English, Italian, French, German, etc)
As an example, we were dining in a "popular" sector of Santiago a few months ago and some beggar approached us. My mother noticed he had blue eyes and said something like "that beggar had light eyes, how unusual, I wonder why he's begging, must be a drug addict or a drunkard from a more affluent family".

It's all very tacitly but it does exist. I look more European and I've never been searched in the supermarket for example, but a coworker once was randomly selected by a guard to check his backpack once because he definitely looks more mestizo/lower-class (browner skin, non-European facial features, shorter, straight black hair, etc). Children usually in upper class/whiter families are specially cruel and usually tease those with brown eyes calling them "ojos de caca" (shit colored eyes).

For us blanco used to mean light complexion and negro used to mean dark complexion. It didnt mean european race or black race.
As an example, i'm dark skinned so my family and friends used to call me negrito/negro. Meanwhile my brother is pale.

We are pretty much 93% mestizo/castizo (whatever we're all brown) here and 4% white. There's no cultural difference between that 97% but the other 3% are blacks from Colombia or Haiti so they do have a different culture.
