The stingers were merely the straw that broke the Soviet's back. The majority of afghan resistance fighters were armed with normal everyday small arms. Even without MANPADS they most likely would have won the war of attrition eventually, it just would have taken longer, just as the Taliban eventually won against the US after 16 years.

Armoured death machines are excellent against organised militaries, but they don't deal well with insurgency.

I had the opportunity to shoot a USP Match in 9mm once it it felt pretty much what I imagine sex feels like.

I own a Swiss S-R 1889 cause you don't need a licence for it (it's a pre-1900 firearm and any adult can purchase one here) and it's an amazing gun despite it's drawbacks, especially the rarity and price of the ammo, but it's certainly better than it's alternatives from the time.

I'm planning on buying a K31 but apart from confinement preventing me from it I can't be bothered to get a licence for now cause my local gun club is filled with dumb boomers and I'm too autistic for social interactions anyway.

The biggest lesson I learned from getting into firearms is that boomers are much fucking dumber than I thought, I already had a bad opinion of them but they made it even worse. The amount of myths, legends and just overall ignorance that stems out from them is painfully dangerous and let's not even talk about their weird grammar and syntax ALWAYS TALKING IN ALL CAPS WHILE GIVING YOU SHIT INSTRUCTIONS ON BASICALLY HOW TO CAUSE OVERPRESSURE IN YOUR GUN AND LOSE AN EYE AND MAYBE A FINGER ALONG WITH IT CAUSE THEY HEARD A FRIEND DO SOME WEIRD EXPERIMENT WITH THEIR RELOADING AND IT APPARENTLY WORKED FOR THEM.
And they'll also try to sell you a beaten up Carcano with a cracked stock, fucked rifling, corroded bolt and missing rear sights for 600€ and be like I KNOW WHAT I GOT.
