English was strongly influenced by viking settlers. A large chunk of England was ruled by Danes for a while.
The vocabulary and syntax is rather similar as a result. We also learn English from a young age. Dubs of foreign media is only done for children.

No. The language spoken by 'viking' settlers was grammatically almost identical to Anglosaxon. They simply have had similar trajectories of development despite not even being from the same branch (which is why there's some big differences too).

Also i heard back in 2014 that the government didn't like how english and american culture was taking over the flemish one, so don't be surprised if belguim people being able to understand and speak english would lower in the feature.

Vikings ruled much of England for a long period of time, the Danelaw. We all spoke the same language back then here in the Nordics - old Norse. The words we see used today that is similar to ours are mostly from those days.

We start learning English around the age of 10.

But Dutch is one of the closest languages to English.
And we don't dub tv, like Germans, Frenchies, Italians and Spaniards do.

Finnish is the exception of course, being Uralic. Their finnglish is pretty good though, even if not Sweden or Norway tier

The real answer is our countries are small so we consume a lot of media in English. That combined with the fact that we don't dub movies, and a lot of autists playing vidya like myself is why we're decent at English.

It's the same reason why Norwegians are better at understanding other North Germanic languages. It's not because the language itself has some special one way ability, it's because they consume more Danish/Swedish media than the we consume Norwegian media. The younger generations are worse at understanding Swedish/Danish than the older. Why? Because they've had more options to choose what media to consume and they chose media in English.
