It depends of the size of the city.
Strasbourg influences the German cities on the other side, but on the other hand Saarbrucken influences a lot the French cities of Forbach and Sarreguemines.

But once and for all guys, Alsace is French. Nobody speaks German or feels like a German in there.

Although when I went there I was with Germans and a girl told me she felt it was more french.

They're German just like Corsica is Italian.
Alsace may be culturally German but they have rejected the idea of political union with them (also because they have been an active part of the French Revolution) that pan-germanism is quite irrelevant nowadays.

Associating themselves with Germany also implies the risk of accusations of being nazis, as some Alsatian batalions were famous in Limousin for being particularly cruel (pic very related)
