I didnt see what the point was of your original pic so I kinda just threw that out there. And no, are systems are fairly well off, prolly the same as any other college in any other western nation. Here as an Electrical Engineer I am required to take Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and Calculus 3. Then I take Linear Algebra and Differential Equation. I also have to take Physics 1 and Physics 2. Those are General Education requirements to even get into the EE department. Afterwards you start off with courses like Intro to Digital Logic and Circuits 1.

It's not about raw memorization, those tests are more about a measure of intelligence, and being a decent student who understands the basics. All the universities here make you start from square one anyways, so they can get you to pay for more classes. They don't expect you to really know anything in the universities here when you start, you're just expected to learn it all really fast in a stressful environment.
