If Taiwan remained a militarist security state with little civil rights (like it was while Chiang Kai-shek was in power), CCP wouldn't be REEEEEEEing nonstop about it.

Taiwan and S. Korea are the only countries in East Asia where control of the government regularly flips back and forth between different parties without violence or military coup. As for your example, the ruling DPP remains very popular despite it because Taiwan is not full of low-IQ single issue voters like the U.S.
