I am a Taiwanese tourist in Japan. I am not a davido English teacher or a Japanese trying to save face online. I have been in Osaka for a few days and life here honestly seems very normal. I've noticed that:
very few people coughing, so the sick ones are not using public transportation or going out
Hand sanitizer is provided by many stores and public areas
Said sanitizer is not stolen (it's usually sitting outside, not locked or anything) and the Japanese actually actually using it
I'll be going to Tokyo soon to see what it's like there but Osaka honestly seems safe.

When an epidemic becomes widepread, then shit like washing hands or wearing masks have negligible effects because the virus is everywhere.
