We have no culture
Lessons on school from 2nd grade and all our media is in English with subtitles, not dubbed.
We're all britbong sexpats.
Go back to
I have never taken one single English class. Not even in school. I've learned English through exposure only. Grammar became intuitive to me overtime.
What u say broo
no speak english
Everyone here is an American or an American with a proxy
Video games and tv.
All our media here is dubbed
I’ve spent a lot of time on the Internet, watching movies, cartoons, tv series and all kinds of videos in English. Many interesting websites I havd visited over the years and numerous articles and pdf books I have read were also in English.
Do Italians like to read a lot or are you just a very outspoken reader?
CÓMO ES QUE SABER MÁS DE UNA LENGUA IMPLICA «NO TENER CULTURA [NACIONAL]», SEGÚN TÚ?
ESTÁS PROYECTÁNDOTE.
>All our media here is dubbed
That sucks. Sorry.
Calmate panchito no es el fin del mundo
The average person doesn’t read a lot, but I think that also goes for the rest of the world
That's interesting. Most people who learn English say the grammar makes no sense.
it makes no sense but it is intuitive
It's actually easier because you don't have to learn the rules.
English grammar is fundamentally broken though
Nah, their pronunciation is wrong. Not their spelling.
it makes perfect sense to me, the grammar is kinda like my own language but in a simpler way, mostly because there's no verbs conjugation
english is so fucking easy and there is ton of material for me to exercise
now spanish, that's hard
English and Swedish are extremely similar, English have tons of loanwords from us Nordics.
The problem to me is that one letter doesn't correspond to one sound.
Its pretty simple and intuitive
It's incredible how horrible English in YouTube comments and Facebook posts often is, while Yas Forums out of all places always has posts in perfect English. Seriously, I haven't once looked at a post and taught "oh wow, sounds like typical Brazilian/Italian/Russian struggling with English" and I've been here for a decade. Maybe because everyone here spends a lot of time on the Internet so we have all already mastered it through exposure?
i don't know, watching italian gremlins is gold as an anglophone
English is a pretty handy language due to its heavy borrowings from French, german, Latin, greek, norse, etc which makes it the ultimate language imo
And now I fuck it up because I'm too sleepy, of course I meant to say "thought"
Doesn't matter if it makes sense or not, what matters is that it's pretty easy to internalize. I don't know a lick about English grammar, but I can write with no problem whatsoever.
>verb conjugation
That's what always threw me off in Spanish class back in grade school. It sort of exists in English (I sleep vs he sleeps) but it's not strongly emphasized the way it is in Romance languages, so it took some getting used to.
My English sucks, though.
My english is mediocre at best, pair me up with a native speaker and he would probably be uncapable of understanding me.
Most native English speakers don't even know proper English grammar, at least here, so you can pretty much get away with it.
We are the collective intellectual elite of the internet.
P R E T E N C I O S O
You speak like a Norwegian
Kek if that's a challenge, then I encourage you to try and learn a slavic language, where we all have cases! For example in mine we have seven cases and nouns get them as word endings (imagine chair becoming chaira, chairu, chairom, etc. as you speak). Verb conjugation as well, of course.
Not to even mention agglutinative languages like Hungarian, Finish, Turkish that have 30-40 cases because they don't have prepositions but only paste suffixes at the end.
Damn I love seeing foreigners speak my language, makes me feel powerful
I can't speak at all so I don't. I'm ok in written form though.
Clearly you haven't been browsing very long. At least half of the posts here are quite crude.
The globohomo initiative requires the world to speak a common language. Due to the British empire and American movies, English was already wide-spread enough that it was the logical choice
are you a rally driver?
yes
Everyday English is mostly Saxon with a (sometimes heavy) French touch, and scholarly English is a French dialect with Germanic structure. Some Norse and Greek words like gun or nostalgia are kinda-common but in truth they play a small role in our speech. The thought that English is a great melting pot of many tongues is greatly overrated.
Up in the ass of Timo!?
THIS is why philippines english is so bad. All our foreign shows and cartoons is all dubbed. Even reality shows sometimes. We learn english since preschool because it's a co-official language but everyone's english is still very bad.
Doctor Paul, I'm CIA
>Maybe because everyone here spends a lot of time on the Internet so we have all already mastered it through exposure?
I wouldn't say I've mastered it yet, but you're right about the a lot of exposure part.
kek
Literally the only people I see on Yas Forums with broken English are the Japs.
I honestly can´t tell if these are your real accents or if you are faking or exaggerating them. Am I stupid?
Explanation?
I learned english playing on my ps2. The games were all in english so I grabbed a english to spanish dictionary and started learning.
>speak
English is one of the easiest languages to write.
Actually speaking it is another issue. I'm French Canadian and for like half my life I still had an accent that sounds exactly like Georges St Pierre. Stuff not like not pronouncing the "th" sound properly and like not pluralizing certain words and then pluralizing the wrong ones, stuff like that.
Same with any other international people a lot of them will have quite the spectacular accent when talking English. Vice versa as well, someone who speaks English trying to get into another language is like a square peg in a triangle shaped hole at times.
this is strangely calming
This
how the fuck can a port not speak span with ease?
White English teachers LARPing as Japanese
nah, our dubs are famous for being so good they're often better than the originals
It's their education system and whole mindset. When I visited Japan I was better at speaking Japanese than the locals were at speaking English and I only know like 100 words in Japanese. I noticed the same kind of broken English when reading all of those anti-Korean shitposts from Japanese posters.
based voice shapeshifter
This should become the system of learning in every school in the world
The PS2 is the greatest. I wish I could go back to those days.
This is how foreigners learn English based on world status
>1st world
good education
>3rd world
GTA Vice City and San Andreas
This is why 3rd worlders (Slavs, Hispanics, Middle Easteners, SEAians) have American accents and write American English, while 1st worlders (West Euros) generally have British leaning accents and write in British English
A PS2 for every child is the only way for unified world.
>all third worlders speak English like CJ irl
