How are the people of my beautiful continent doing today?
/afr/ - Africa general
Alright. Online classes haven't started in my uni yet so there is not many responsibilities.
Only people from South Africa (the country) and North Africa (the region) ever post here. The rest of subsaharan africa is too poor to shitpost on 4chins I guess.
I want to see East African Federation become reality.
You're not African, Willem du Toit.
Is life comfy on Equatorial Guinea and Botswana? What about Mauritius and Seychelles?
Or they just don't wanna post on a site full of edgy teenagers
Some of these countries have their own huge forums where they shitpost. 4chung probably never got popular (for those that do have internet).
I wonder if there's any sub saharan black country were people are rich enough to spoil their kids into becoming Yas Forums posters. I'm pretty sure none of them has reached that point yet. Can't tell if this is a good or bad thing.
Most of them are on Facebook
Facebook has a monopoly on the internet in africa
I didn't do well on this
sporcle.com
Only got around 40. Africa is difficult
Am self isolating, comfy as fuck
Funny how a Sudanese poster said in previous general that the thread was posted too late so all Africans are asleep when actually the truth is there are no Africans. Sad for an international board that should encompass all continents.
Man, I wish I could go back to my african country before I die and maybe settle down there with a family before my children become diaspora amerimutts.
Too bad it's ruled by a faggot dictator
Nothing wrong with dictators.
They use Nairaland
nairaland.com

>Man, I wish I could go back to my african country before I die and maybe settle down there with a family before my children become diaspora amerimutts.
>Too bad it's ruled by a faggot dictator
Are you Ugandan, or Eritrean?
they would rather used based nairaland instead of this place
I think that he's just larping like 90 % of "black" people on this board
I wish the DRC wasn't shitty.
If only it had good Korean/Japanese style merican puppet leader instead of it being ruled by Mobutu and now Kabila.
I'd would be living there instead of being born in Britain.
Eritrean, unlike other African countries this country can actually have the potential to be a devoloped country. I don't even oppose dictatorship if you can do your job, but obviously nobody wants to be drafted in the military for 30 years or likes the fact that multiple schools and health clinics have been shut down simply for being run by the clergy.
We're in lockdown and a curfew is set up.
As others have pointed out, Facebook and WhatsApp are the norm here. I've never met another Mauritian in a thread.
What happened to Somaliabro? Is he still alive? Did he finally move to Sweden?
bump
More people should know the story of the DRC. How it's not poor "just because." It was kept poor and undeveloped for decades by Mobutu.
What are the common jobs on your island, does everyone mostly live from tourism? Is it hard being isolated in the middle of Indian ocean?
You mean after people being abused and killed by King Leopold II of Belgium for 40 years, completely depleting the country?
Old Congo Joke:
>Mobutu needs 1000$ so he and his wife can go shopping in Paris. He asks the finance minister to withdraw 1000$ from the state budget.
>Finance minister is puzzled, but tells Mobutu that he will go to the bank to get it.
>Finance minister arrives at the bank and says "2000$ please, for the boss."
>The bank teller takes out 3000$ and puts 1000$ in his pocket.
>"Here is your 2000$ sir"
>"Thanks" says minister, who takes the money.
>Outside he puts 1000$ in his pocket
>"Mobutu Sese Seko Ka Wa Za Banga, here is the 1000$ you requested"
>"Excellent, now I will treat my wife to a beutiful holiday in Paris"

>You mean after people being abused and killed by King Leopold II of Belgium for 40 years, completely depleting the country?
It got raped multiple times in history not just then
It was first the Kongo kingdom, it was poor but at least it was stable.
However King Leopold basically raped what was left of a civilisation there killing millions in the process.
Then it got ducktaped together by the belgians, but wasn't really good or enough considering only 5 people had uni degrees at the time of independence (even Botswana had more at the time of independence(100 uni graduates) and it was an utterly poor shit-hole that the British barely cared about)
This lead to an Patrice Lumumba a uneducated ruler running a ducktaped together country.
Then the Congo crisis happened, where the country was used as a cold war games by the USA, Chinese, soviets and mining corporations.
This ends with the USA and Belgium comming together and assassinating Patrice due to muh communist.
The USA ends up backing and funding the dictator Mobutu an even more uneducated shitty ruler just because he hates commies.
His rule practically shits the country into an never ending decline.
He funded terrorists throughout the continent.
He ends up creating one of the largest wars in the Congo and most of africa just shanks it (the main ones being Rwanda and Uganda).
He gets assassinated and gets replaced with Kabila
The man ends up getting shanked by Rwanda and Uganda again.
(Over 5 million died)
This also led to the country having a magnitude of terrorists in the Eastern region where they fuck shit up and smuggle minerals outside of the Congo.
Kabila's son Joseph Kabila ends up taking power and the country is practically on a decline and for 17 years Nothing really happens other than ebola , aids and China wanting muh minerals and terrorists doing terror shit in the eastern region and Kabila doing nothing.
(It all so tiresome)
Then recently they had a election, and Felix ended up becoming president, however he is just a Kabila puppet, but is trying to fix certain parts of this raped to death county.
The DRC is what happens when you rape a nation way to many times.
It will take a lot to unfuck the country and can't really be shortened to muh nigs lazy
Or whatever message that was meant to display why the Congo is shit in 'the empire of dust'
The Congolese never had it good and suffered alot due to the cold war.
My mother was born in Ziare, she was part of the middle class there and told me a bit about it and the war, the rebels were utterly awful.
I saw a documentary in French about the situation in the coltan mining regions. They interviewed some women who had been raped or kidnapped by the rebels. Nightmare fuel level shit.
Damnit we just had to be in this story
>I saw a documentary in French about the situation in the coltan mining regions. They interviewed some women who had been raped or kidnapped by the rebels. Nightmare fuel level shit.
Luckily not all of the DRC is like that and the rebels are getting pushed back to. Their last stronghold now.
youtu.be
But the rebels in the DRC are utter monsters and deserve to be in the pits of hell.
Here is a video by vice about the terror groups.
youtu.be
Overall the DRC hasn't had that much time to recover from all of this in the 21st century, And it's rampant corruption and lack of any sort of strength is why it's currently in this position.
It will take a looot of time to unfuck the DRC.
A lot of time.
For me, it's the Kingdom of Benin
>maybe we should try and put our own house in order first, afterall. we do have a thieving. squirrellling. fisherman at the top who consistently dents our image.

Most of my friends are scared to post here. They think I’m a sadist because I spend too much time here.
Interesting read!

Do you like your president?
Has boko haram been btfo'd yet?
>They think I’m a sadist because I spend too much time here.
I also spend too much time on here
Have things at least improved in the last 15 years?
hello muh brudah wot hab u do 2 keep de wyte divel out today ??
>Have things at least improved in the last 15 years?
It's only improved recently in terms of governance, and it's GDP per capita is growing a bit but it's still utterly poor even for an African nation, it's utterly poor.
That and most of the terrorist have lost their ground.
For the most part I don't think any part of africa will become a superpower or anything like that. It for the most part will be controlled in some way by the west or China.
It's because it's leaders are weak, weak, and corrupt.
From south Africa and Rhodesia white rule being able to get utterly hamfisted by Chinese/Soviet backed groups, to Arabs in the north getting BTFO'D by colonialism, to the shitfest in the Congo, to terrorism and the lack of action for the most part, to them getting BTFO'D by colonialists.
Africans, or at least the African continent is and has been always been weak.
The only reason people care about Africa, is because of it large amount of recourses and it's human capital for the most part.
If it wasn't for that no one would give a shit about any of them.
How much shit you can extract from a continent is basically what Africa is.
It has always been like that for the past 200 years, controlled , at least it's getting better in most of Africa.
Also Africa had the chance to become at least something, when the colonials came, they could have tried to develop, but they were too weak and inexperienced, they could have became something in the 1960-2000 but the cold war fucked the chances of that ever happening, it could have been something if the white Rhodesian/ South African rule was strong enough and developed enough to hold of against communist backed terrorists politically as well as fighting, it could have been something if the African leaders in the 1960's weren't swayed by communism and admired and wanted capitalism and wanted to develop their counries, it could have been something if Gadaffi in 2011 was strong enough to make the world powers back off, instead of getting utterly decimated.
Africa probably won't be a superpower, at most it will be a continent overshadowed by the larger powers that be, only cared about due to its human capital and it's resources.
I don't think africa is a lost cause.
It was in a shittier position 60 years ago, under colonial rule then it is today, thinks look alright for the continent if the growth increases. People were making on average $100 a year in africa, now your average african makes $1500
I hope the continent gets better
However I don't think africa will ever be a world power at all, it's never been that and will probably never be like that it's just too weak.
I’m indifferent about him. He’s good in some ways, he’s also bad in other ways, but he is human after all.
Book haram still remains a political tool.

Some Nigerians and Ghanaians are pretty rich and live in these big gated neighbourhoods.
*infects your continent*
nothing personnel, mbongos
Lol yeah. If only they could navigate such hidden mysterious web forum.
So your government gets a lot of aid just because of boko Haram, and they will keep it that way as long as boko haram doesn't go too far and try to attack the capital or something?
That and the opposition use it to make current govt look bad. A peaceful Nigeria doesn’t line their pockets with money.
What is your mother tongue?

What's with that drop on the graph during 2010s? Is it because of Arab Spring?
>What's with that drop on the graph during 2010s? Is it because of Arab Spring?
Probably, the arab spring affected north african countries in a bad way.
Most of the governments in power at the moment in the north there like in egypt are just puppets.
independent.co.uk
The graph shows sub saharan countries tho
Eh, the same thing happened to north africa
