GEOPOLITCALLY, NOT IN AMOUNT OF SPEAKERS

geopoliwhat?
shut the fuck up nerd lol-

One of my motivations to study Mandarin is a memory from when I went to Hungary.

I was staying with a friend's family for my time there, and all they spoke was Hungarian. Even my friend stopped speaking a lot to me just because he was busy doing family things. I knew enough Magyar for some things, like how to buy tickets on the metro system and order food, but I was getting really lonely really quickly. I weirded-out some British tourists because they just wanted directions somewhere but I wanted to talk about something, anything with them.

Then one day I went to a flea market in Budapest. I saw Chinese people working in about half the stands and for a brief moment I thought to myself "Finally, someone I can talk to." But my brain had failed. For me, unconsciously, I began to associate White people with Maygar-monolinguals. The last Asians I saw were back home in the US and I wanted to believe that meant they were Americans.

After less than a second from that thought I knew it wasn't true. These Asians would only speak Chinese or Hungarian, so I was still as alone as ever.

However, if I had been able to speak Mandarin, I could have had someone to speak with even in Hungary. This extends to anywhere in the world. Chinese are in literally every country.

French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, Italian, Portuguese. They are all pretty much on the same level, I think. Slightly more relevant than most other languages, but considerably less relevant than English (POWER GAP) and Chinese.

> Chinese are in literally every country.

Godamn that really makes you think.

SPANISH, AND RUSSIAN —IN THAT ORDER.

Substantiate your argument.

Spanish and French. Russian is relevant for literature.

Spanish, French or Russian.

However if you want to go somewhere nice learn German.

Usually I find white women disgusting but I'll make an exception for this ginger titcow

Spanish

SPANISH, BECAUSE: (I) ONE TWELFTH OF THE WORLD'S POPULATION SPEAKS SPANISH, AND: (II) THE HISPANOSPHERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN IMPORTANT, AND HISPANOAMERICA IN PARTICULAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN GEOPOLITICALLY CRITICAL.

RUSSIAN, BECAUSE RUSSIA IS ONE OF THE «THREE BIG ONES» IN THE WORLD, THE OTHER TWO BEING UNITEDSTATES, AND CHINA.

>GEOPOLITICALLY CRITICAL.

why, its just a bunch of third world countries in south america, explain to me
im not trying to be funny im just ignorant

I'll castrate you if you won't deliver MOAR of that hottie.

Because just like americans, hispanics/latinos are mostly monolingual morons and so if you want to say "put some cheese on my burger" or "I want those milks double-bagged" you'd have to say it in spanish.

The right answer here

chinese wouldnt want to talk to you anyway

YOU ARE NOT MERELY IGNORANT, BUT, APPARENTLY, YOU ARE ALSO PREJUDICED.

1. THE ENTIRETY OF THE «FIRST WORLD», «THIRD WORLD», ET CETERA, CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM, IS OBSOLETE; IT IS AN ATAVISM FROM THE «COLD WAR», AND IT WAS APPLIED TO POLITICAL AFFILIATION, NOT TO CIVICOECONOMICAL STATVS.

2. HISPANOAMERICA HAS ALWAYS BEEN GEOPOLITICALLY CRITICAL DUE TO: (I) ITS GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION, BETWEEN ASIA, AND EUROPA, (II) ITS NATURAL RESOURCES, (III) ITS SOCIOCULTURAL INFLUENCE, (IV) ITS HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE, (V) ITS DEMOGRAPHICAL EXTENT, (VI) ITS IDEOPOLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE (THE HISPANOCATHOLICAL IMPERATIVE), ET CETERA.

WHY ARE WE YELLING

French by a large margin actually. If you want to become a diplomat in Germany it's mandatory to know at least French and English. Half of Africa speaks it and uses it as a lingua franca, as well as relevant parts of Europe, North America, the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean and Oceania. The OIF is one of the most active international organizations with a biggest budget than the Commonwealth.

French-speaking cities host a myriad of important international organizations such as 5 out of the 6 European Institutions (Luxembourg City, Brussels Strasbourg), NATO (Brussels) and many UN-associated organizations and important NGOs like UNESCO(Paris), second seat of the UN and the Red Cross(Geneva), as well as the ICAO in Montreal.

Also Spanish is a meme. The economy of all Spanish-speaking countries is lower than that of Austria and Germany combined and most of Latin America is a few strategical and geopolitical importance.

Unironically Spanish

Some say spanish is a no no, others say spanish is suuuuuuuper importnat. Im confused as all hell

>If you want to become a diplomat
Nobody here wants to.

Spanish and Italian are fucking irrelevant

Sehr basierend

Yeah one more user against it, while others are for it
SURE HELPED THANKS M8

>Nobody here wants to.
Lmao, that's kind of like saying no one want to become a programmer/engineer on /g/.

I ALREADY EXPLAINED TO YOU WHY IT IS THAT THE SPANISH LANGUAGE IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT LANGUAGES, GEOPOLITICALLY; IF YOU STILL CANNOT RECOGNIZE ITS GEOPOLITICAL IMPORTANCE, IT IS BECAUSE YOU ARE IDIOTIC —NO OFFENSE INTENDED.

french I guess

Spanish, latinos will we mayority in usa in the future

Probably Arabic if a person happens to work in the energy sector.

LAMO ITS IRRELEVANT

the counter him mr "i am a geopolitics specialist"

USA will be irrelevant in two years though

>implying Yas Forums aren't just user wanting to talk to loads of their countrymen anonymously.
>implying I haven't started coming here a few days ago just to watch all this delicious corona panic

German or French. In that order.

depends what you need it for really since English is the only language that is really global and every other language is local, Spanish in south america, French in Africa and a bit in Europe, German and Russian in Europe, chinese in Asia, etc

one time I fapped so hard I pissed out a blood clot

HAHAHAHAHA, do you have more of those with Donald?

Italian doesn't belong on the list

japanese because animes

try prostate orgasms then, let me know if you need some help ;)

OP here

I'll just pick russian, reasons:
>they matter
>russians dont seem to speak good english
>another language spoken in a dictatorship(我已經會說漢語了,還有繁體字也是援助毀滅中國的一個工具)
>will be able to understand other slavic languages to SOME extent (not that its important)
>phonetically friendly to portuguese speakers
>they wymmyn are the cream de la cream of females
>i'll have access to dvach and they dank russian memes
>i like foreign alphabets
>i can already read cyrillic

Thanks everyone for your support, russian it is.

Overall, probably French. Its commonly spoken in France, Africa, Canada, Southeast Asia, and the Caribbean, while Spanish is only really spoken in Spain and Latin America. All of the french regions combined are more geopolitically relevant than the Spanish regions, especially with all of Africas natural resources and the fact that France has two first world countries speaking it but Spain only has one.
