Why is this giant mess one country even though they have different cultures, histories, and languages?
Indonesia
yep it's a miracle we don't end up like yugoslavia
God wills it
God and Indomie, unironically
this guy
Why though
Nope, It's because of the Netherlands
We wouldn't be an actual country if America never pushed the Netherlands to let us go.
how is life in east timor?
>giant mess one country even though they have different cultures, histories, and languages
thats all the countries in the world retard
This is how Indonesia would be divided.
>thats all the countries
lol, not us
american backdoor
Netherlands was one tried so hard to divide it though.
makes no sense
and a bunch of other countries too.
literally the largest most irrelevant country in the world.
actually, it's because of Japan
Only SEA countries that had their borders drawn by retarded europeans
I think Bali shouldn’t extend beyond its island and Borneo would be its own country but other than that I can’t call out the exact flaws. Flores islands are Christian so it makes sense for them and East Timor to unite. Borneo could be its own country although if the northern portion is a part of Malaysia then the southern portion could join Malaysia too. Not really sure about Sumatra.
The Dutch.
Flores and the islands surrounding it are very diverse. being christian doesn't mean anything. west timor still remained loyal to Indonesia and harbored loyalist refugees even after East Timor got independence.
if we want to go by religion, then might as well just split it between Muslim Indonesia and Christian Indonesia (which would be an even bigger mess)
also sulaku makes no sense
Some cities in north of west java will probably try to separate themselves. They were really butthurt when we proposed to change the name of west java province to Pasundan before.
it is not one country, there is Indonesia and uninhabitable patches infested with chink locusts
>Flores and the islands surrounding it are very diverse. being christian doesn't mean anything
Indonesia as a whole is very diverse plus majority muslim yet that didn’t stop these islands from joining Indonesia. East Timor is also a multiethnic country itself.
I get your point about the historical context though wouldn’t the scenario plausible if we focus on the pre-independence history?
Also how do you think Sumatra should be? Aceh is on the top of new country list but I am uncertain about the rest of island. Might as well pick your opinion about Borneo.
>Indonesia as a whole is very diverse plus majority muslim yet that didn’t stop these islands from joining Indonesia. East Timor is also a multiethnic country itself.
then why bother splitting Indonesia in the first place?
>I get your point about the historical context though wouldn’t the scenario plausible if we focus on the pre-independence history?
then there would be dozens of not hundreds of countries, not just a handful
This is a strange map.
Merging Sulawesi and Maluku doesn't make any sense.
West Papua and Malaysia would probably have some insurgency issues in the future too.
>then why bother splitting Indonesia in the first place?
Each group in a region usually has similarities with other groups in a region. Why not unite Europe into one country? France is already divided among Aquitanians, Parisians, Bretons, etc.
Because it makes more sense for christian ethnicities to split up and form their own country than join a muslim one?
>then there would be dozens of not hundreds of countries, not just a handful
Well, i don’t think these countries would last long, I see it’s more likely they would form bigger countries clustering under cultural basis rather than every ethnicity getting their own independence. Indonesia is just too big of a country to born naturally. Some of you admit the Dutch created it.
Then what do you think about this map?
>Why not unite Europe into one country?
why not? looks like they're headed that way anyway.
Europe would be a divided shithole
so it's all about religion, huh? if we weren't majority muslim, I bet you wouldn't be making this thread.
and what about India? they're even bigger than Indonesia, and many of their ethnicities can't even speak to one another because a lot of them can't speak hindi. meanwhile in Indonesia most people, from an acehnese imam to a papuan man wearing a penis gourd can understand Indonesian. So why does no one ever question India the same way you question Indonesia?
Do you seriously think India is a model of nation-building you should follow?
of course not, because we did it better
I'm just questioning why these threads are always made about indonesia but never for India.
>So why does no one ever question India the same way you question Indonesia?
Ha, you don’t know me then. I’ve been working on alternate map of entire Asia. I quite absorbed to it, probably more than you would ever guess. Speaking of which Indonesia is making me deal with even more difficult challenge.
Feel free to look at my incomplete draft.
>Indonesia is making me deal with even more difficult challenge.
I meant *INDIA
hmm very interesting. please share it when you are done. I also like thinking about alternate scenarios like that from time to time.
Manchuria has barely any Manchu identity anymore, it's mostly Han. Shouldn't be a country.
Significantly better but merging Papua together is insane.
They're the most diverse island in the world. They'll break apart in a few years with all that infighting.
very poor
Is that supposed to be a unified Korea?
Better but I heard their government collapsed a few months ago.
As opposed to now where they're also merged together with Malays, chinks, Timorians, and Javanese people?
Based
That’s my old draft. I got to think like you later and decided to give it back to China. The problem is a good portion of it historically belonged to Mongolia and I am still yet to finally set the borders. The areas with most Mongol population as of present ironically happen to be large cities where also lots of Han live.
Sure, user.
So.. what’s your suggestion? They aren’t exactly fond of the central Indonesian government. On top of that, they’re racially different from other Indonesians. If I am mistaken, are there ongoing ethnic conflicts on the other side of the Papuan border?
We aren't any better, it's just too much of an issue to break away now.
rightful hindustani clay desu
that honor belongs to us.
shut up fat
based
>Those sauce
Why, you can eat that?
based
And that's a good thing.
We don’t eat that, there is an Indonesian restaurant around every corner
>american education
Almost all borders where drawn by retarded Europeans.
The Dutch put them all under one rule, and they handed together to resist colonialism so there was some solidarity I guess.
He meant do you really eat peanut butter, honey and mayo concoction you call satay sauce with fried rice?
I am surprised average american know about us
Really? I thought you cant eat spicy food
>satay
soulless
It's sate you pig.
>I thought you cant eat spicy food
I, too, base my entire worldview on epik imageboard maymays
It's different sauce altogether you dolt
