Miyazaki made some very good movies, I respect his pacifism and ecologism, although I have very different political ideals.
Japan should indeed improve its relations with China, it'll be the most powerful country at the turn of the century, and Japan has always had good relationship with China. Japanese people still read Chinese classics in schools and trade between the 2 countries is expanding.
In this respect I think Abe is doing a great job, he doesn't need murakami or Miyazaki. Things are already improving, and coronavirus is also helping, with the Japanese sending medical supplies and donations.
