Actually...the reason for that is the same reason most Koreans are Kim, Park, or Lee. Because in premodern times commoners had no surname, only the aristocracy so when mass literacy arrived in the 20th century, everyone adopted the same handful of surnames. In the case of Korea, if your surname is Kim, Park, or Lee, it almost certainly means your ancestors were peasants and nobody of any importance.
