Not really debatable. A programmer is a programmer anywhere, if you're working in a software house. Unless you're doing mixed roles like IT Quant (what I do), Data Memelyst and stuff like that, you're basically developing code.in a given language according to company policy, and that's it.

Yes, I agree with you. Atm, in Europe there's a lot of IT near shoring to Portugal (my case is within that), Poland and Romania. Eastern Europe and Russia are probably the places with the best quality/cost ratio available.

I know that, but salaries in the US are generally much higher. Apart from healthcare insurance, most goods are cheaper over there and their salaries are way higher. They (individuals with higher education) have so much purchasing power it's unbelievable. Forgot to mention getting a degree will fuck your finances up over there as well.
