No, that'd be 'níl ach fliú'. 'Amháin' means 'just' (as in 'merely', or as you say, 'only', in very specific circumstances that I'll admit I don't know fully, but it seems to be when there is another thing in question. Amháin means "one" in the string in the OP.
I think amháin can mean "only", or at least be part of a phrase indicating "only", but usually it's only the kind of "only" as in "he is the only man walking", not "he is only a man walking". A bit like the difference between "only" and "sole".
Eg:

iirc there's a different type of phrase where "amháin" can be used to map onto "only/just" but it's

The intended phrase in the OP could use "just" in *nglish instead of "only", if mentally transferring the logic of saying "just the flu" leads to better translation into Irish than "only the flu".

The deeper problem with the OP phrase than "only" is the use of "tá" instead of "is". This distinction exists in other languages too, but not *nglish, so I don't know how to explain it well only with reference to *nglish. Maybe "tá" as "is currently" versus "is" as "is essentially".
