completely fucking fucked. we went from 83 cases to 186 cases in a fucking day for my province alone.
Human sacrifices.
We are killing the sick and using their blood as hand sanitizer.
Very bad til now, nobody gave a shit because "muh election year". Full political rallies, full sports games, full everything.
After an NBA player got it, then we decided it was actually serious. So in my state we cancelled/closed schools, church, tourism stuff, libraries, restaurants, bars, locked down nursing homes etc. And of course we all stocked up on toilet paper for the worse case scenario. We have 161 known cases and 1 death so far, keeping in mind this is USA and we dont know how to test, so probably more like 16,100 cases.
ayy, pretty good. people are still freaking the fuck out saying we are the next italy though, because their small dicks only get excitement from making angry tweets at the government
>Dem primary voting still happened today
Both Democrat and Republican primary voting happened today, I went and got a sticker. They had hand sanitizer
Well, since people are actually sharing info, and not only memeing...
People are freak out.
Yesterday my company allowed everybody to go work from home (IT stuff). Since i don't actually care if i live or die, and i don't like to stay in home, i was the only one in the company.
At the morning, i was forced to leave the skype group because everybody was talking shit instead of work. My boss was disappointed with me, and i told him that they think they don't need to work.
Soo, this is the result of the frst day of home office:
>2 developers did not even get the openvpn client to work (i saw the logs)
>the marketing girl went to the movies with her boyfriend and did not finished the shit she was supposed to do in the early morning
>e-maisl was marked as unread after 10am from out client support
>there was only a couple of commits in our git server, and 40% was mine...
>one developer asked me about 32bits libraries to run steam on work computer (we allowed the developers to take the machines to home, they are quite powerful "gaymer laptops" with linux)
My company probably will go bankrupt because of those lazy fucks...
>almost going into the shitaly trajectory
fml this country is fucked
mfw koreans attacked us in 1973, tried to nuke us in 2007 but now in 2020 they infected half the country with corona.
>IT developer
>Need help to get steam running
???
Situation’s deteriorating faster than anyone wants to admit. There’s an odd tension here in the states. People are freaking out on one end, but others are still.. somewhat calm. I don’t think a lot of people here understand how dire it’s gonna get.
managers and supervisors are responsible for work output
Most developers don't know shit about Linux and are afraid of cli tools.
This one in particular once chmod the entire server to 777 because "he tough it would solve the problem".
Ask me why does they have shh access to production server. I fucking dare you.
we are a small team. There is no space for a supervisor.
My boss simple hope that you do your job, and due peer pressure, people do shit.
you need a devops engineer
Im finding it quite funny how so many people are hitting our government over the head om social media with the recent Imperial college paper saying UK gov is shit, out to kill everyone ans uninformed, not realising that that the imperial college are one of the institutes coordinating and advising the government on what to do.
It's disturbing how critical people are, yet so many haven't even researched beyond chinese whispers what is being said, proposed, planned and done.
>the marketing girl went to the movies with her boyfriend
Brazilians cinemas are still open or something?
yea businesses are still open
It was probably a kneejerk response to the 'herd immunity' thing. Thing is, our government in particular has been making frequent updates albeit a little bit slow (ie today the borders are effectively closed, now gatherings of only 100 people are allowed with fines etc). It's never enough though. All they seem to be yelling about at the moment is closing schools, however Singapore did not close theirs and they're doing the best out of everyone
ICL published 9 papers on COVID-19, each one getting more and more stern about needing to act earlier than later. 9th one contained projection model that allowed bean counters to quantify monetary damage of unsuppressed COVID-19 epidemic, and that's what moved the U.K. government into finally doing something.

We need a loot of things. To start, we need to stop hiring people who "like computers because gaymers and would like to learn how to be a cool programmer".
Teach someone is too much time consuming.
Just so you know. Before me, there was no git. There was no version control. They literally hook their ides throw ssh and alter the files directly on the servers.
>9th one contained projection model that allowed bean counters to quantify monetary damage of unsuppressed COVID-19 epidemic, and that's what moved the U.K. government into finally doing something.
Man anglos really are jews.
Here everything is closed down already, except banks, post offices, supermarkets and restaurants for take-out only.
I still have to work at a department store
There is no confirmed case in my region, so, yeah. opened...
The reason she went to the cinema was "it may be closed tomorrow"...
A pregnant woman, the reason why we decided to allow home office, went to a crowed space in the first fucking day.
this is just like the scenario in the it novel i am reading
>A pregnant woman, the reason why we decided to allow home office, went to a crowed space in the first fucking day.
oh my...
The UK has certainly been lacking in clear communication, partly because Boris doesn't actually know what he's doing but is suddenly having to be the face of scientific communication, plus due to how fast flowing data is without any solid grounding just yet, models are innevitably going to fluctuate as new data comes through.
People also are dumb and don't yet comprehend we're in a lose-lose game, trying to find the best way to least lose. Also so many whinging for schools to close asap even though the children are at extremely low risk and assuming the average parents age is 35-45, so are the parents.
I bet you though if the parents got their way they'd just ship their infected kids off to nan and gandad to look after, then bitch about how the government didn't just fail to save the grandadparents but probably outright say the gov killed them.
People need to get it out of their head that this is a political issue.
Of course it did, They're part of SAGE (UK) and directing the Gov on the whole pandemic issue. What they say goes. Their new data changed the model, the government then did what they were told.
Really? Whats the name?
the phoenix project, supposed very famous in it
Thanks, i put on my cellphone. when i find some time, i will read a couple of pages to see if i like it.
it starts with the it disaster you described but at a large firm
some big companies force some leads to read it
It's not inherently political, but people are using it just to criticise their own respective governments regardless of what political positions they have. I can guarantee the opposition would be in the exact same situation rn though. It's been extra tough for us because we've only just recovered from the worst fires in 80 years
Interesting.
We used to have a disaster per week. Mostly because some developer forget that he commented something to debug.
I am making progress tho. Recently i convince my boss to stop storing pictures in a blob on our sql severs and use a S3 like services (our backup was getting too big to our VPS contain it). First he was hesitant, but when i told him the cost per GB he was in shock...
The next step is change our VPS provider. They manage to find the cheapest VPS provider in brazil. As you can imagine, the service is shit. They don't know when a server is down and rely on clients calling them...
i think you will benefit from it, it's about making it problems the problems of the entire company so everyone is involved and no longer relegated to backwater office setting again
Kek. Guess it is a miracle the company still haven't collapsed by now, although same can be said to.many other companies around the world
In East Asia region, good government response usually correlate with less affinity with China
no data for my cunt?
>you'll never have the steepest trajectory
> As of 18 March 2020, theMinistry of Health and Family Welfarehas confirmed a total of 147 cases and 3 deaths in the country.
You guys aren't reporting
Another hk user. How old are you? Do you browse other boards?
>shin chan doesn't believe bathing in poo can decrease coronachan's affliction.

>Do you browse other boards?

Everyone should kill themselves right now and there's no more virus.
>In East Asia region, good government response usually correlate with less affinity with China
Britain isn't trying to fight
fucking nerd lmao
Examples other than Taiwan? Even Japan took long before finally giving up the profit from Chinese tourism. Singapore acted fast but didn't really act in a way to worse ties with China.
Cool. I don't come Yas Forums often but I always check /g/ and /sci/.
>contain the coronavirus?
Why contain it?
Japan and South Korea are bad examples in this case.
Other than Taiwan, there are also Mongolia, Vietnam, and North Korea.
I am not saying it is necessary to act in a way to worse ties with China, instead it is about whether politicians in those countries are willing to question information released by China and act preemptively based on those doubts.
Most western countries are even performing even worse than Japan/Korea when it come to handling Chinese information critically and the result is what we're seeing right now.
I've got it mate, and I'm coming for you.
Went to the store yesterday in bumfuck nowhere and it was basically out of toilet paper.
I thought that was some stupid american thing? Can somebody explain the logic of hoarding toilet paper for me?
Literally fucking why.
>Hong Kong health officials credit universal mask wearing as part of the solution and recommend universal mask wearing. In fact, Taiwan responded to the coronavirus by immediately ramping up mask production.
wtf iceland? snow niggers wasn't a meme?
whypo can live without food, but not without ass wipes.
doctor who came to joe rogan thing claims masks are next to useless.
>>doctor who came to joe rogan
Fuck that guy. Getting masks and respirators. Goggles too. Earmuffs too. And plastic wrap and disinfectant. And some thick good rope. A bunch of steel wiring. A few large rocks. Dashcam. Hideaway licence plate. And Walking Dead Compendium 1-4. And an Axe.
cant tell, the government have declared emergency situation, this means they can withhold information
