>the guys who gave us Brexit
>now in charge of a deadly epidemic

I mean that's really the only way to deal with this. Either that or you force everyone to stay inside until a vaccine is developed.

based bojo

killing all the old will save the economy, not destroy it

No it's not. You don't want too many people with it at once or the hospital are overcrowded, which will lead to increased mortality not only for corona patients but others too.

Obviously you don't let the virus pass through the population all at once, you do it gradually in order to aquire herd immunity and minimise the impact it has on healthcare system.

But Johnson unironically wants the UK population to get as much of it as soon as possible. Nothing's getting shut down or canceled there.

>gambling on immunity
It's been nice shitposting with you pooftas

His plan is just to get everyone infected and have it over and done with as soon as possible, so that we can get a headstart as one of the countries first out of this mess. He even went on TV yesterday and made a speech about how we will lose friends and family.

I mean I don't really know how you avoid being exposed to the virus though, you can't stay inside for ever and once the shut down ends it'll start spreading again.

bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off

if the brits get herd immunity, what would that mean for the rest of the world tho.

- 40 million infected
- 8 million with severe symptoms, most of whom won't receive the care they need because of crowded hospitals
- 800,000 dead (about twice the death toll of WW2)

sounds like a plan, yes. For BoJo.

>mfw the "Tories want to kill you" meme was true all along
And I thought our government was shitty.

Smart decision actually. It's just another one virus that make you cough.

Well, a bunch of old people dying off would be good for the economy of any country.

die boomers die

>this is the only country in Europe we didn't ban
God our government is so dam retarded

Yep. It's not like the ban will even stop the virus anyway as you already have it.

No he doesn't stop making shit up, he has from the start said they want to flatten the curve and delay it into the summer months, he said the same thing yesterday again

youtube.com/watch?v=A0chs7bVQ8Y

build a anti-corona wall and let china pay for it

lol

I mean do tell me how you can handle this otherwise. Even if you shut everything down, you can't stay inside forever and once the shutdown ends it'll just start spreading again.

Actions speak louder than words. He's not done a single thing to slow the spread. He's gambling with the economy to hurt Europe.

>B-but Boris said!
He's a pathological liar.

ah yes you're right the prime minister, chief medical offer and chief scientific adviser are all lying and some pasty incels on a racist anime website know better, thank you for convincing me

Ireland too
btw Trudeau's wife just got corona after visiting here

Fuck off Boris

Remember this thread when you're coughing your lungs out.

>I mean do tell me how you can handle this otherwise
You try to make it so that:
1) not everyone will catch it at the same time. Otherwise, the hospitals get crowded and many die who otherwise could have been treated. The UK isn't going to train 200,000 doctors - this would take years.
2) you make the spreading slower to get more time for a cure and/or vaccine to be made.

>ah yes you're right the prime minister, chief medical offer and chief scientific adviser are all lying and some pasty incels on a racist anime website know better, thank you for convincing me
How abotu the rest of the world's prime ministers and experts? It's not like they made up the fact that there need to be action to slow the sprea dof the virus

He thinks he's Churchill channeling Dunkirk. The man is out of his depth. It'll backfire when the tories end up killing their core base

that could be an idea if we knew what are we dealing with

we don't even know the exact mortality rate and now they are saying it can reinfect people

also what if it leaves permanent damage?

>Herd immunity
>For a quickly mutating disease
Yeah, working out real great with the flu, haha.

The UK govt is the first to basically have acknowledged that you can't stop or hide this thing, it'd be like trying to stop the wind. The idea is to let the virus spread slowly and in a controlled manner so that a significant contingent of the population develop herd immunity which effectively acts as a firewall to protect the old and particularly vulnerable.

But no, I'm sure your brainlet idea of 'prevention' i.e. locking shit down and having the country shit the bed repeatedly as health services play whack a mole with multiple outbreaks, is so much better

Well it fits with Trump's narrative:
- the virus is carried by dirty foreigners, those can't get into the UK which has "strong borders" as he puts it (actually, you just need to show your ID to travel there from France)
- Europe is mismanaged, unlike the UK which "does a great job" (read: they're doing the same as Trump, ie jack shit)

In addition, Trump owns a golf in Scotland, he wouldn't want to do bad advertising for the UK.

>He managed to get elected on empty promises, obviously he's a scientific genius

>The idea is to let the virus spread slowly and in a controlled manner
And how is accomplishing this with no measures?

>It's not like they made up the fact that there need to be action to slow the spread of the virus
and you think ours haven't said the same? please tell me you researched this a bit more than just reading bait OP pic?

youtube.com/watch?v=A0chs7bVQ8Y

you lock shit down to slow down the virus you absolute brainlet

Best timeline.

How are you making it spread in a slow and controlled manner without locking shit down?

Why does everyone wish the UK death and pain? We never did anything to you. Besides, when this is all over, you will need someone to bury your corpses, so be nice to us.

Attached: 1519751517100.jpg (750x504, 252.07K)

they say they arent at the same stage and somehow they can control it

I love the UK, your government is just retarded and is actively trying to destroy you

>We never did anything to you.
the eternal anglo

Get rid of the royal family, and we'll talk.

Your PM wants you dead and you blame foreigners. Typical Brit.

>and you think ours haven't said the same?
I already know he said there needs to be action, did he take it? Did he even start showing a plan?

>Why does everyone wish the UK death and pain?
I don't, but watching you shooting yourself in the foot is great fun. I loved Brexit, this sounds even better. And if the US gets access to your NHS, this will take the cake.

You need to remember that all this is great fun... when seen from the outside.

The UK government stated draconian measures such as cancelling of events, forced social distancing, closure of schools etc... will occur in the near future, but has emphasised the need to time things appropriately in order to achieve the most effective results.

They're saying that closing schools will instead threaten the most vulnerable in the population (fears that grandparents will have to take on childcare duties) and do more harm than good. For cancelling large events, the worry at the moment is that they disperse into even worse areas for spreading infection (pubs etc.).

They're gonna try and effectively nurture the spread of the disease and reduce, but not eliminate the R0. They want it to spread, but spread at the slowest rate possible and their modelling is saying there's still a 4 weeks gap between us an Italy.

Believe it or not the best answer to this isn't shit the bed, close down society - rinse and repeat for the next inevitable outbreak.

The old people are vulnerable and the government cannot indefinitely ensure lockdown for them or afford it. They have to try and control the spread to effectively eliminate them getting it while ensuring herd immunity in the healthy is developed while the healthy has access to medical care not being completely used up by the elderly.

There is a plan, stop being so dense to think they spent the entire day discussing with epidemiologists and data analysts with some of the most expensive tools at their disposal to simply come out and say "Wash your hands and carry on as normal"

>Get rid of the royal family
Well, this herd immunity plan doesn't bode well for the queen, who is 93.

>this would take years
Immunity to coronavirus doesn't last that long.

She will be replaced. I want it gone entirely. No more royalty.

Our PM right now.

Attached: 3.png (480x359, 334.88K)

This has to be joke.

we dont even know that reinfection isnt a factor, going to be hilarious if you can get reinfected and theyve actively tried to spread it around

I hope Boris has hated every day of being PM. Hopefully he realised its more than a title and something to get his name in a history book. Ugly cunt.

>going to be hilarious if you can get reinfected
Last I've read, this was considered the most likely scenario.

>no replies

Europeans btfo

>ah yes you're right the prime minister, chief medical offer and chief scientific adviser are all lying
yes

This still sounds fishy as fuck, but thanks at least there is a plan.

We are no better.
Rutte: just a flu bro, stop shaking hands lmao (shakes hand)

>dude trust me I'm at uni

I hope the Scots will get out of the mess, now?

WTF i swear i didn't answer after seeing this

Imagine you're stuck at sea in a flimsy little raft. Would you rather the waters be choppy but pretty much manageable all the time, or have total stillness punctuated by fucking tsunamis coming out of nowhere and hitting you every couple of days?

>ignore low-level crime
what a brilliant plan

Attached: ac-graphic-boris-4-stage-coronavirus-battle-plan-1[1].jpg (1500x2868, 1.21M)

that's the same as OP, only tl;dr
they're doing jack shit and try to pass it a plan
there may be a million deaths - and this may happen every year like the flu, with mutations.

And then emergency rooms get filled
And doctors have to send people who need medical care home.

Bros I want things to go back to the way they were. I've had enough of this

It's uncharted territory for us all because there's been nothing like this in recent memory and only time will tell if it will pay off. I was originally fuming when I first read the headlines but then went through everything and the basic premise is directly in there, and a lot of this is protocol.

of course they could still fuck this up and be wrong with the data but I think what they're seemingly aiming for is a hell of a lot better answer than any other nation is currently throwing up, with a surprising element of transparency and honesty (I'm sure not entirely though but still)

There are risks here, this is still a force of nature and there are easily flaws but being willing to face this threat head on and try to manipulate the fight to our strengths and favour is far greater than trying to run away and letting the virus hold all the cards in new, though smaller - hidden, exponential growth outbreaks. lets fight this thing, we might do better than you think.

Wah wah we're doing "nothing" yet have had the virus for fucking ages and are doing quite well. We haven't immediately fucking collapsed unlike a couple of others.

>We never did anything to you

You guys are retarded, you're just going to end up as Italia where they did nothing for weeks until people were dying in droves because there was no capacity left in hospitals. You shut down the country because it's already spread and you need to focus on spreading the pandemic out over time.

This but the other way around. You guys are going to be hit by the tsunami because all of you will get sick at once. Spreading it out still means people are going to get infected. It's already inevitable.

>You guys are going to be hit by the tsunami because all of you will get sick at once

Not British therefore wrong.

>brits need a public information plan telling them to wash their hands
this country took over the world at one time

i lol'd. They didn't do nuffin.
