I really enjoy costume dramas and novels from mainland China. The censorship really blows though. They're banning morally gray characters, characters that scheme too much and so on.

I want to go because China and India look like two countries where you can still have a genuine adventure and get lost in how huge they are. China has the added advantage of being a country with lots of modern tech which enhances the sort of things you could find, like lots of abandoned malls and markets in major cities. It sounds cool as hell to me.
