How do you say “[your cunt] has just joined the corona club” in your target language, Yas Forums?

Learning the Runic alphabet for shits and giggles.

They made a Pokémon based on those Scandi runes. I think it's really cool.

I can't motivate myself to learn any language anymore. I've some basic knowledge of German and French but can't seem to motivate myself. Would you guys share something motivational about learning a language?

Not him, but I'll ask you about runes for two reasons:
1. I have a slight interest even though it has nothing to do with my TL.
2. I want you to feel validated. :>

"Has de ver" = You have to/must/will see.
It's an outdated construction that almost nobody uses.

>watching Korean animal rescue videos with subtitles in my tl
i don't know why youtube recommends me those but hey reading practice is reading practice

What's the difference between phonetics and phonology?

Phonetics deals with the physical properties of speech sounds while phonology is the study of the abstraction conceptualization of speech sounds.
Phonetics -> phones (the things you say)
Phonology -> phonemes (the sounds you learn)

Interesting. Thank you

Aren't there like three? I'm learning the Anglo-Saxon one and the Old Runic one. The younger Runic alphabet has like three different versions.

Kiu /esperantisto/ ĉi tie?

>Aren't there like three?
There are lots for various intentions and purposes, just like the Latin alphabet comes in a myriad of variations for different purposes (ie different languages).

>and the Old Runic one
W-what?

>The younger Runic alphabet has like three different versions.
I don't know what this means.

Il pasto è stato fantastico, certo, Angie? L'unica cosa che lo avrebbe reso migliore sarebbe se non aveva costato ottantaquattro euri.

Sets of runes are not the same as assignments/uses of those runes, which differed even in the same people at different times and places.

>Zij is zo mooi
Ze is zo mooi
You should only use 'zij' if you want to stress that it's her that's beautiful and not her brother or something. That being said, I've read and heard A LOT of Dutchmen use the stressed variants of pronouns in unstressed positions, so this it could be that this is a change not yet reflected in the official grammar.

Because of the Corona hamster shopping, the boards receive fewer donations. That presents a completely new problem for politicians, as they alone must care for poor people

????

>emailed linguistics professor asking about first assignment
>feel like an absolute failure and dumbarse and that im going to fail the course
>he replied that my work was very concise and accurate
that's quite a relief.

Because of Coronavirus panic buying: Fewer donations for food banks.

A new problem for the political class as they have to concern themselves with poor people.

I have two questions for English natives:

Is "homespun" somewhat derogatory? Eg: is a "homespun theory" considered invalid or not worth someone's attention?

What is more offensive: to tell someone to scuttle away or to slither away? Actually, are these offensive at all?

Ah because people are panicking like hamsters

I'm not sure. It's a well known figure of speech in German.

>Is "homespun" somewhat derogatory?
I've never heard that word used before. Home-spun. I would presume this would be synonymous to "amateur" or "non-professional."
>What is more offensive: to tell someone to scuttle away or to slither away? Actually, are these offensive at all?
Scuttle is what an insect does. Slither is what a snake does. Nobody ever uses these as insults, though.

I'm thinking of learning dutch and later going forward to german. Will it make my life easier when picking german or it won't make that much of a difference?
