But a culture and identity is important and my country has none. I want to be a minority so my culture is respected. Nobody finds le epic barbarians with blonde hair who rape people to be very cool or exotic or colorful but thats about it as far as white Americans can really claim. Other than that we've been consumed by consumerism and its inescapable. NOBODY can live without a national and cultural identity, you just can't. Its the basis for a way of life. We have none. I'm half American (dad grew up in Maine). I regularly wear a western shirt and cowboy hat around in public. If anyone asks I say it's a part of my culture and it gets a lot of respectful nods from natives and hairy old turbaned men here. On weekends I like to shoot heroin and play harmonica on the porch.

Every time I go down to the USA it always seems so bland and soulless. Its sad that the dysphoria has kept the culture alive more than you.

I wonder why the British did not build cities in the real sense of the concept, with their cathedrals, squares, avenues and parks. The Spaniards did it in Lima, Mexico, and in any relevant city, but the British only built wooden cabins. Even the French Canadians, being very few people, still retain European-style historical areas in Quebec.
