I started it. It's interesting, but it's one of those books that aims or purports to be a beginner's introduction but quotes excessively and alludes too vaguely to its sources, with ensuing frustration. I've come to realise lately that one can get a better beginners' understanding of topics through academic rather than "popular" books.
Although afaik that book is historically valuable as an early "modern" history, at the tail end of the revivalist movement, before the free state and the decline to where we are now set in.
