Today they found someone with Coronavirus in my city, and 6 students at my uni are in self-quarentine. When I heard about the chinks shutting whole cities down I figured that wuflu was something really bad and since then I've been deep diving and researching since while I short the markets with 3x leverage inverse etfs and calls on said etfs as well as puts on individual companies. I also researched the number of hospital beds, hospitals, typical rate of occupancy and all that and determined while my city is much better prepared than most places for an outbreak, we've still got millions of people and even if every hospital bed was available and we had no constraint on ventilators and ECMO machines we could only handle about 2.5% of the cities population being infected at once, after that medical staff would have to start triage. Most places in the South aren't ready either if coronavirus hits critical mass either, shit will get nutty fast. Stock up on everything you need or want for a couple months and isolate yourselves if you're not a neet already. The Feds and the CDC have already dropped the ball and it doesn't look like this is going to end well.

General rule though is that tax accountants are always weird people. its already a very eclectic field in accounting. what made it more weird was he was a young married guy and he dressed like a regular office worker. One usually only sees old guys with stubble walking around being that conspiratorial.

Because it requires you to specialize into it and once your in it, its not like being a generalist or a cost accountant. No one wants to let you out of that role for 2 reasons. One, because there are so few of them and you dont want a regular accountant trying to navigate your taxes. For two, because its full of non transferable skills. If all you know is taxes, you're not really a good candidate for managing an accounting department or being a controller. Pretty much all you know is tax rules and regulations. (bonus three: its boring work that requires people with a HIGH level of reading comprehension. They just read IRS docs all day )
