He’s actually the strongest being in the universe, given his only weakness (mortal death) can literally be cured by his divine half and can “NO U” any known power once his rage gets going.
We only know of two weapons that work on him, one of which none exists and only one being can make, the other is a hated representation of oppression which will probably be rare to find if any still exist now.
Ultimately the only way to beat him is to outlast his desire to live.
As for redemption, he never really forced anyone into it. All he ever did was keep “I refuse to give up on you no matter how much you hurt me, by the way I think I know something that will make you feel better plus I can point out the simple flaw in your logic” until they stuck around and decided to try and emulate him. With Jasper being the only one immune to it because she knew what she wanted was impossible and she had no logic to her goals.
The idea of what he did and offered was so alien to Homeworld philosophy but so appealing to the individual that even the creators of that society willingly abandoned it.

Bismuth’s weapon is untested on its target. As far as we know, Diamonds are indestructible. They needed a special one-of-a-kind weapon to even be poofed.
Peridot took thousand pound boulders straight to the Gem and didn’t even poof, Garnet swims in lava hot enough to melt actual Rubies and Sapphires to relax. The only things we know of that cracked or shattered Gems is other Gems. Lapis from being stepped on by someone, lasers from robots that don’t even cause a big explosion, and the rage of Diamonds. They may be immune to mere ballistic damage, and only be vulnerable to certain physical transference of harmonics.
Its also more like pic related than a jackhammer.

I mean it like took some time in the beginning but he can draw upon it basically instantly and his pink form does speed up his reaction time and speed in reaction to any form of stress and someone pulling a gun is fairly stressful. Also I don't think a gun would shatter the gem maybe damage it but it is the type of gem that Blue Diamond has and she had her arm ship fall on her and got up without a scratch.
