>Tony knows Hell exists
>Has literally battled demons like Mephisto and what have you
>Is still an atheist
Explain this.
Tony knows Hell exists
Atheist means not worshiping God. Tony's ego doesn't allow him to worship a hod other than himself
Fantomex is an atheist because transhumans put robots in his brain and made him incappable of being anything but. Stark's an atheist because he's that fedora tipper who never grew up.
>inb4 Aaron
Gillen, Fraction, Tony's been an explicit atheist for more than a decade. At this point it's canon.
That makes him more of an egotist that Doom then.
>That makes him more of an egotist that Doom then.
All of those Supernerds are
Fedoras are typically stubborn and obstinante in their beliefs.
That's the thing though, Doom has no problem with all the Metaphysical and "worshipping". And he's got an ego the size of... dunno. This makes Stark either a retard or a bigger egotist than bloody Doom.
Thats like saying god exists because quantum is unpredictable for modern science. Just because theres some spooky shit doesnt mean it isnt measurable and testable within the scientific method.
Alternatively, which god should he worship? Odin or zeus?
The One Above All has nothing to do with any established religions.
Just because demons exist doesn't mean there is a god willing to help you.
If you can just walk up and punch a "god" or "devil" in the face then its logical to conclude that they aren't really some kind of all powerful deity to be worshiped.
>Atheist means not worshiping God
No, it doesn't. Luciferians are theists, but they don't worship God.
Atheism, means not believing in a god or gods. Not believing in somebody you fucking work with is of course fucking insane. Anyone have that page of Thor kicking Tony's ass?
No definition of god requires them be all powerful.
>Luciferians are theists, but they don't worship God.
Yes because their god is the devil
The real answer is that comic writers try to have their comics and characters be related to how they picture real life and there are fedora tippers in real life. The Legion of Superheroes is a better look at what humanity would be like in DC and Marvel given how common advanced tech is and how many ways there are of gaining powers
Not gods, just super advanced aliens :^)
His point still absolutely stands.
I think this upsets you because your reasoning to try and justify it is terrible. Its actually like saying God exists because you know there is an all powerful being who created everything.
The existence of a hell does not imply the existence of God.
1. Just because God exists doesn't mean you're obligated to worship it.
2. One really has no obligation to worship such entities if they can have their shit slapped around by mortals.
3. Clarke's Third Law.
Because's he's not THE God. The rule of comics I've seen is that anybody claiming to be God or the Devil is really not, just an extremely-powerful entity for good or evil.
>Has literally battled demons like Mephisto and what have you
Why wouldn't he be an atheist if he's battled gods and demons and won?
That's the reason Beta Ray Bill is an atheist too.
Dudes been to asguard too. Hes met odin. Hes met zeus. Hell existing doesnt imply the existence of god any more than asguard does, or life on earth does. If hes just straight up met god why waste everyone's time mentioning hell? Just say
>tony met god
>doesnt believe he is real
Or better yet, save us the thread
Because Tony Stark is right.
The same as anybody else in a comic book universe not believing in God or other theistic things.
>met a demon?
probably a metahuman with powers
>met supernatural beings like thor?
probably an alien like in the MCU
>been to hell?
probably some other dimension like the Negative Zone, no biggie
>met someone claiming to be god?
probably just another superpower loon
What about the fact that straight up magic exist and it's not even debatable like even Reed Richards admits it is real and he just doesn't have any aptitude for it nor knows how to do it
>superpowers
that or
>some science we don't know yet
like maybe it's something else like unstable particles or pym particles that simply hasn't been able to be quantified yet, but could at some point
actually every other scientist besides Tony stark including Hank pym admits magic exist remember when he becomes scientist supreme?
that doesn't really stop someone like tony stark from outright going "haha you guys are dumb only science is real, god is dead" I don't know if Tony is still a hardcore atheist but just because he's an atheist doesn't mean he wouldn't believe in magic, but even if he didn't this is the reasoning he'd give
Tony admits magic exists he just actively hates it.
>"demons" exist
>therefore hell exists
lmao "hell" is possibly another dimension or alternate universe through a portal or some shit
>Atheist means not worshiping God.
Lmao no
lmao who wouldn't though? magic must be some kinda weird fucky abstract concept that can do weird fucky things to people and people like tony have absolutely no way of countering it. same with batman disliking magic or superman being vulnerable to it simply because he has no invulnerability to it.
like, yeah, wouldn't you be scared/uncomfortable with something like that? at least with science it's something he understands but when someone can turn you inside out with a couple of words or someone can dismantle your hi-tech armor by waving their hands, you'd be scared shitless
Because he's written by a writer in a world in which Atheism is a rationalist view who isn't thinking about the context of the character in which agnosticism is actually more rational.
Even if you don't believe Thor or any of the beings you've encountered are true Gods, the idea that a being that intentionally created and manipulates the Universe is very probable given the knowledge and experiences most characters in capeshit have had.
This is why Wizards are OP in DnD. They don't fear the unknown, like Fighters, Monks, Rouges, and Barbarians. I laugh at you non magic users, go play with your metal toothpick.
He fights guys who call themselves gods all the time. He considers entities like the Tribunal, etc, to be very powerful cosmic beings but not a creator God.
He didn't meet Kirby like F4 did, so he hasn't had a real pseudo-religious experience that only a comic book character can have.
Even in-universe, everyone's cagey about TOAA (and Fulcrum). Is it just the current most powerful cosmic being, or is it actually responsible for the creation of the multiverses?
In any case, TOAA doesn't demand worship from humans, so not sure what exactly Tony has to go off of there.
