According to many at the time, Invader Zim was the last vestige of Nick's glory days, before the sanitized Zoomer shows like iCarly and Victorious took over around 2005ish.

It was an insufferable show filled with lolsorandom humor and shouting because they thought shouting = comedy. People only like it because they have severe autism or sixteen pairs of nostalgia goggles strapped to their head.
Sure, fag. Go back to watch Gravity Falls and leave the kino material to those with taste
Stay mad, autismo.
>no argument
seventeen goggles
You want an argument ? Ok : Gravity Falls was unfunny, with jokes that mostly fall flat, lack timing and get spoiled by the use of orchestral cues at the end of the punchline. Characters were obnoxious and stereotypical, making it hard for the viewer to form a connection with them, too many eps cover the same ground ( Dipper's crush on Wendy or wanting to grow up too fast, Mabel having a summer romance or competing with Dipper for banal stuff like who gets a room or who's the tallest twin, etc ) Character designs were uninspired and homogeneized. Should i go on ?
He wanted an argument for why Zim was good, retard.
Gravity Falls is closely associated with IZ you know, so you just trashed the series you were defending
Should've been more specific then
Bullshit. Zim was a auteur show aimed at a niche audience, GF was a product that desperately tried to aim to every demographic
If you weren't so autistic you would have caught that like anyone with a normal functioning brain did. You were the one to bring up some show that you have an obvious hateboner for and that nobody in the thread mentioned except you.
This show was a big inspiration on my art style. I liked the new colors in the movie, but it's a shame they went away from the sharp angles.
Not only is the art style great, but the cinematography as well. Steve Ressel was a veteran who knew his stuff. Plus, it had a far bigger amount of storyboards than your average cartoon.
I hate it when my pic rotates like that. And yeah I know I need to get my tat touched up, the guy said hed do it for free when it initially healed, but it's been 2 years and I never took him up on that.
Invader Zim was a good show but if you liked it you had some sort of mental illness
i never liked nick itself
not even back ye olde good days
because they would air live action shit like kenan & kel
zim was one of the few shows i would be interested enough to switch over to nick
>inb4 i get called CN shill
Yeah that's true
>People only like it because they have severe autism or sixteen pairs of nostalgia goggles strapped to their head
Probably some truth to that. Still, shows that show the world as a big pile of shit filled with nothing in it worth saving are a special aesthetic that isn't done often in kiddo tv, I appreciate that.
Zim is a show that felt special at the time it came out. Too many cartoons about slice of life or realistic situations were coming out, and it was starting to feel samey : Ed, Edd and Eddy, Reccess, As told by Ginger, Rocket Power, Hey Arnold, Wild Thornberrys, etc. Zim felt like a breath of fresh air because of that
yeah, its pretty good. I guess you do kind of have to have a childish/schadenfreude sense of humor, but if that's the case then lucky me. Also I've heard people complain about the way the show portrays, well... everyone but it's not really about the ironic clown-type jokes. People take the piss out of our """""society"""" all the time, and at least IZ does it in a way that's not totally insufferable. It's not cynical, it's just dark and stupid. If you want to draw connections with the real world, whatever, go ahead. Also I find it kind of funny but IZ is the only franchise ive ever watched where I loved all the characters. Can't say exactly why, but I think it's partially due to the moral gray they all have, but not at the same time. I think it's mostly that they're dumb. Dumb and the ones with huge egos get shat on constantly. It's easier to like underdog characters. There are no saints, and there are no masterminds either. I hate morally/intellectually infallible characters.
Truth
admittedly accurate
but were all a little mentally ill arent we
cn had its own fair share of stinkers, not a shill to me
The funny thing is that I don't think the world in IZ is really a big pile of shit as you put it, just that Zim and Dib are really, really, really unlucky and don't do a lot to help themselves. Humanity pretty much does act like irl like it does in the show, its just that none of us are on the receiving end so it doesn't seem nearly as bad. Also you can't really fault the Irkens for being fucked up either, it's pretty apparent theyve been that way for thousands of years, and a lot of cultures irl are that horrible but still have good people in them. Irkens are the same. Also sure we love Zim but he did destroy half their homeworld.
I think the best part is that the show really stresses that no one is in control. None of the characters are these almighty masterminds pulling all the strings from behind the scenes. Everything just happens chaotically. It's comforting to think that the real world is the same.
>lolsorandom humor and shouting
Watch the show before you talk about it.
What a way to go
The appeal of Zim is not only in its constant cynicism and cool art style, but also its characters. They're all social outcasts that want to find happiness and validation in an opressive society. Zim and Dib are unhappy and want their situation to change, whereas Gaz and GIR are happy with their demented / lonely lifes
Why was there ham in my pocket?
To be fair, the show was starting to become like that towards the end, with eps like Mortos and the girl scout one. The unfinished eps also prove this, most of them being just loud screaming and lacking any of the action scenes or creepy stuff from earlier eps. youtube.com
Nah, I really mean the state of IZs humans beside the main characters. The not caring about obvious mysteries/suspicious stuff or the misery of their fellow humans. You imagine the shitty, worthless daily lifes of chicken foot, the hot dog seller or Zims neighbour and it's really scary.
>Humanity pretty much does act like irl like it does in the show
And that's what makes it seem so dark in my opinion. I'd rather fight aliens, too than to be stuck in a normal life in that world.
It's like the real world without nice feelings and friendly people.
>Dib wearing a trilby instead of an actual fedora
Invader Zim Ruined a Whole Generation of Women.
Zim's version of earth is hopeless. There's not a chance to be happy in that setting
No one can resisty the big irken cock.
