Sins Past

Is this the worst Spider-man story ever written?

It's a coin flip between this and One More Day honestly. The former turns Gwen into a cheating whore, while the latter makes Peter an irresponsible dumbass for the sake of status quo.

You ever wonder what Sins Past would be like if Norman banged Liz Allen instead?

It would probably still be awful but it would make more sense.

Right? Then its just Norman fucking over his son (again). Hell Normie could even be his son.

There was once a time when the clone saga was the easy answer, but now it's gotta be omd

They actually teased this at one point, didn't they? I remember Norman telling Harry he cucked him, but it might've been that other chick Harry was with in BND.

I wonder how anyone in editorial thought this was a good idea to do such blatant character assassination then again they also mandated One More Day. So they probably only really approved of it to assassinate Gwen's character.

They just do whatever is shocking to sell copies just think how you'll still talking about like a decade later they succeeded.

To be fair the main problem with the clone saga was due to the fact that it never seemed to end. With things like OMD or Sins Past it was just character assassination. Both are awful however one's far worse than the other.

There's one problem with this approach. It devalues the brand if they keep doing it. No property is invincible and Bendis Superman could barely sell copies without DC interfering.

Bendisman is hot garbage though, no one likes his villain or what he did to Jon

That illustrates my point perfectly. Not even Superman the world's iconic superhero can withstand under the barrage of a terrible writer.

His idiocy caused the brand to deflate when it comes to the value.

Norman cucked harry with his black gf to make a goblin baby that hasn't been seen since superior

The last thirty years of spidey seem to be a dick measuring contest to see who can sabotage this whole thing the most. 90s was clone saga a half decent idea dragged out way to long by editorial, sins past a shitty idea made worse by editorial (though if it was black cat coming back with petes kid the idea would be perfect) OMD a terrible idea cooked up by editorial and superior another stupid idea dragged out far to long by editorial. Though as shitty as it all is I still think slott writing that pete would let a child die to save his own skin is probably the worst bit of character sabotage that pete has faced

Spider-man did have some good stories in between to avoid the book completely collapsing (ie. Bendis Superman)

OMD is worse because of what it stands for, honestly. Status quo worship is a meme that should have been put in the ground decades ago. Sins Past is a shit story but it also wasn't done for pants-on-head retarded meme-ass reasons. It also didn't set Peter down a shit path that had him in the worst slump in quality the character has ever seen for over a decade. I don't think Slott would've been S-tier if OMD never happened or anything, but I definitely think it dragged the quality down because of the position it put him in.

No you're right I get that the clone saga may have been shit but Ben is great Kaine has more than proven himself to be a great addition to the cast and its connection to spider girl leave a special place in my heart. I was never a fan of Byrnes run but I like Mattie and the spider-man title was pretty great all the way through, I wasn't a big of the spectacular run in the early 00s but it had its moments. I think its a testament to JMS that I can still like a lot of his work even though he's so closely tied to two of the worst stories. WHile I'm not slotts biggest fan I will say that pre superior was fine, I'm still pissed that he got over 200 issues and never gave us one good single pete story or never tried a small arc with pete and she hulk, but BND had some moments (even if I wish ANY of the other writers got the book)

What helped pete was that bendis never got his hands on the original book proper, I feel bad that DC is letting bendis shit up every possible aspect of the character

Let me guess, you just watched Linkara's review of this crap.

>Sarah and Gabe turn out to be Peter's kids aged up with the goblin serum
>they jump off the bridge and Pete gets sad
>Pete goes after Norman for setting up the whole thing and kills him
>turns out the kids survived, met with Peter one last time and leave to move on with their lives.
>by saving their kids from Norman, Peter finally gets over Gwen's death and returns to MJ for a kiss.
there you go, Spider-Man is over and the shrine to Gwen Stacy remains safe.

or just turn them into clones, his idea wasn't bad either.

I'm never going to read it so why not just watch a review.

I watched it too. His ideas for how this could have been salvaged were reasonable
>Don't do it at all
>If you have to do it, don't make them adults, make them kids
>Don't make them Norman's kids, make them HARRY's kids
>Just make them clones

>Norman cucked harry with his black gf to make a goblin baby that hasn't been seen since superior
But then it turned out that the baby was Harry's after all.

I honestly don't remember that at all

To be fair Linkara can be quite good when it comes to skewering awful comics. His OMD review was on point

Gwen was goblin Norman's cock.

OP only posted this cause Linkara reviewed it.

One additional detail about this that I really hate is that it establishes that Peter never had sex with Gwen even though by modern standards the idea of two not-particularly religious twenty-somethings dating and being chaste is laughable. Especially if Gwen wouldn't put out for Peter but would for Norman.
So who was Peter's canon first time then? MJ or Black Cat?

>So if you've been thinking of getting someone to pick up Spidey, this is probably a good place to start.

One More Day actually was worse
